    Default Galaxy 919 and Scanner

I finally got all my stuff hardwired and mounted. Installed a Galaxy 919 to replace my Cobra 19, quite a step up. Also replaced my old 50 channel with a new BCT8 scanner. Pictures by okfire65 - Photobucket

    Looks good.

6-way fused splitter? I don't think I've ever laid eyes on one before.

Nice work, Fire. I can't wait to see you put a jammer on that thing!

Very nice set-up you got going on there... Nice to see other members with Galaxy radios on here...

I just wish I had a truck and had the kind of room you do.

Thanks all. Loving the Galaxy, backlit with a dimmer. Scanner is great too, I picked up the ARC8 software to make programing easier. Think now I am gonna go ahead and hard mount a new CB antenna and take down the mag mount. 6 way splitter at OReillys for 10 bucks. I hated to keep adding stuff to the fuse box. This way you have plenty of power with no overloads. Waiting to see the new Blinders before choosing jammers. Laser is just getting used in OK, not much yet in my area.

I'm fixin to buy a couple of BCT-8s myself. It's really the only decent mobile scanner left in the Uniden lineup that doesn't have that annoying Dynamic Memory. I sure wish the 8 did PL tones though. Hard to believe it doesn't.

wow great install, i've been going through every "show your install" waiting to see a belscort smart cord flush mounted.

quick question about your wiring here:
    http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...re65/dash5.jpg

is the bundle going to the black wire (phone cord im assuming) being run to your RD? and the other two are for power?

think I might do this in my civic since it's so much farther out of reach than my old car

edit - also, is that distribution block wired directly to the battery? or the main ignition wire, so it's only powered when the car is running?

Look at all the pics and you will see 6 total wires. Black ground and red hot together. The other 4 colored wires go to the phone style jack. I just matched the colors with the original jack. Someone else in here did this originally and I copied their install pretty close. I later added my V1 and just stuck the mute button for it right below the X50 mute.
The splitter is wired to a main power that is hot all the time. I like to be able to run CB and scanner with the key off so I just turn every thing off with the switches. It makes it really easy to add stuff and pick the fuse size for everything once you get the splitter hooked up. It also makes it easier for me to trace any electrical problems that might arise.
