    Default Toyota RAV4 - LI / V1 installed

This is more like a question thread ... I installed both LI and V1 today and want to see what do you guys think about the location of the front shifters ?

Also, I am not sure if the V1 is in the best place, but with Toyotas design you are kind of limited with your options ... On my BMW V1 fits perfect and this is not the case with RAV4.

Let me know if I should leave the way it is or more things around

    Thanks.

    LI

    On/Off switch

V1 ( I am worried that rear antenna might be a bit obstructed by the headliner) ?

I would have preferred a LI Sensor higher install location, the grill. In any event, you need to flip your sensors over such that the receiver bubbles are both positioned outwards towards the headlights of your vehicle. The power switch looks nice!

Your V1 is, to some extent, impeded by the heat dissipating material adhered to the windshield in that location. I am not sure of any empirical data about this material's affect on either RADAR or LIDAR. It's rear capabilities are fine however IMHO.

Do you think they are too low ? It is kind of the mid-point between the hood and the ground ...

Yes, I need to flip the heads ... I noticed it right after I installed them ... Does it make a big difference ?

I attached V1 using a thin stripe of velcro ... It will be soon replaced with something stronger ... I don't think it generates a lot of heat ... The dot matrix on the windshield might be the problem, but I need to go and test it ...

Yes, they should be positioned as close vertically and horizontally to your headlights as possible.

The sensor receiver bubbles are designed to be positioned for maximum reception and based on the sensors installation location presently, they should be pointed outwards towards your headlights.

I agree that higher in the grille, in between the headlights would have been ideal positioning. However, I think you will do well where they are. Kind of hard to tell since your photos are taken aiming down instead of level with the vehicle. Only testing will tell, but I have confidence in it.

The headliner shouldn't be a problem, as it is plastic and fabric, not metal. It might again just be the angle you shot the photo at, but it looks like the V1 is pointing at the sky. If so, you want to level that out.

It's a very nice, clean install!

First of, welcome to the V1+LI club. :beer42:

    1. I would move your heads one notch further apart.

    2. As for the V1, your rear radar antenna is partially blocked, I would use the V1 mount and move it to the right of the rear view mirror.

    3. If you haven't got an external speaker for the LI, I highly recommend it.

Nice job on the switch, very clean.

Thank you for your suggestions ...

I'll work on placing shifters in a different location tomorrow ...

That is the best spot for V1 that you can get in this car ... I'll need probably to lower it a bit and it should be fine ...

Due to poor factory insulation in Toyota, I can hear all alerts pretty loud, so I'll think about getting an external speaker ... I just want to keep it clean and simple without adding any accessories

You can get the speaker from escort.

Mount it underneath the driver's seat and run the 2 wires and you'll be set.
