Here's my install of my STI-R on my ride. Let me know your thoughts, good, bad or ugly, all are appreciated.

I like where you put everything except the control module. From the pic, it looks like you have to reach down for it.

Yeah you do have to reach down a bit but it's nothing substantial. There's really not much of a reach at all, and to have everything concealed was worth it to me.

Why not to install the control module somewhere near handbrake/armrest? It would be very stealth too. Probably under the armrest, facing forward. See the red line just under the armrest.

EDIT: BTW did you tint the remote screen? Cover looks black instead of red...

    Best regards, Alex

At first glance, that would be a great spot for the control module, but the center console/arm rest is actually one of the biggest downfalls of the car. It sits too far back to be a functional arm rest, and is too low as well. I thought about putting the controls where you showed, but it's almost like reaching backwards and awkward. If you look in the photo you've attached, you can see how the console is so far back that they put another arm rest attached to the drivers side seat. The passenger seat doesn't have one, it's quite odd actually, and one of the biggest quirks of people that own these cars, myself included.

In regards to the remote screen, no I didn't do anything to it. I saw on other posts that you were looking to modify the display in some way, but mine is completely stock.

Okay I get it. Got a Toyota myself and have the same problem with my armrest, it's impossible to use...

Thanks for your reply, it looked like if you did something to the display. What I want to do is to remove the redness of the cover and make it dark or clear. Adding tint would be one way to reach darker cover, but it'd be impossible to wrap the film to the sides of the display. Using any sort of heater to bend the tint film isn't on option with plastic...

To get the cover darker, couldn't you use a product like this? VHT Nite-Shades I have my tail lights tinted, but not too much. I didn't do it myself, but from everything I've read about this stuff, if you apply it lightly, it covers lightly. I personally have no experience with it, but it's specifically designed for plastic light covers. Might be worth a look?

I like it, looks nice and clean, I would have put the control module where you got it as well probably, I also would have put the bi-color LED next to the display tho =)

Thanks for the tip... It might work, but on the other hand, wouldn't want to ruin the cover. Will look into it.

I've been loking at protecting films from Lamin-X which are used to protect and also tint the lights. Should be quality stuff and let much light through. I guess it works great with plastic, as most cars have lights made of plastic...

    Best regards, Alex
