Looks good, been considering this myself. How is the GPS mount attached to the car?
It looks good! That's almost exactly the same place I mounted my GPS, except I bought a hard mount and epoxied it on the windshield, I think that's almost the only good place to put one in a Cobalt.
The cool thing about tomtom's is that they have a suction cup ring built in to the back of it. You can twist and turn the circle bracket around to mount the GPS to your desired location. I'm really glad tomtom did this because I hate those stupid mounts that look like this :
I can't stand how stupiddd they look.
That's clean; I'm liking it. I am all about mounting things in the line-of-sight and it seems you are too. I know some people say it annoys them but the fact of the matter is it allows you to keep your eyes on the road while still being able to read your equipment. Looking down and on an angle requires significantly more time than looking up the tiniest bit and to the side, which means your eyes are off the road more than they need to be. The huge arrows on the V1 and large LED ramp-up dots are also friendly to this method. Your GPS is in the perfect spot given you don't use it every second like the V1, so mounting it slightly off the major line-of-sight is like the perfect blend of safety, performance, and cosmetics. Thumbs up! If I had a GPS I'd do it too!
One thing I would add is use a fuse tap instead of wrapping the wire.
