This is an update from my previous thread on my 9500ix and LI dual install on my 2010 Audi S4 (found here: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...hlight=jimf15e). I moved the mute switch from the steering column to the center console and got rid of the remote power switch. I found myself forgetting to turn the LI on!
The remote mute is a flat switch installed under the rubber liner of the small slot compartment next to the cupholders. The remote alert LED is under the speedometer and only lights/flashes under alert. This combo can be purchased from Safe-n-Sound.com. My Laser Interceptor is the standard dual setup but I made my own custom power switch and remote alert LED. The remote alert is wired to the radio mute wire. Since the radio mute is essentially an on-demand ground, by connecting the LED to a 12V source you can have a completed, grounded circuit on alert. The LED is mounted opposite the 9500ix's LED. The standard LI power switch wouldn't fit in the small slot compartment due to wires underneath so I bought a separate 3 wire harness, normal SPST switch, and 12V LED. All three are connected to the LI's CPU and mounted inside the slot compartment in holes drilled with a dremel.
As you can see (hopefully) everything is very stealth and can easily be returned to stock. The entire setup works like a champ. For me though, the best part is I did it all myself. I'm not a big speeder, just a big geek I think. Enjoy!
