The "chip" for my car cost ~$300, not including installation. Moves the redline up and removes the limiter as far as I can tell. Don't think it does much else.

My friend has a limiter on his car... at 186mph, and he wants to take it off. Seems like a waste of time to take it off, but what were they thinking with a limit at 186... whats the point?

Although I have a few other mods, I felt a big difference with the addition of my MOPAR PCM in my truck, I believe it's an advertised 25hp gain, I'd believe it. It also removed the rev limiter The "supporting" mods will definitely help in N/A applications when it comes time to add a "chip"/tuner, ect. But as said, forced induction and especially diesel applications is where PCM tuning really comes alive.

And those resistor scams have been on eBay for years, it's sad people still fall for it.

Maybe to match the tire specifications that come with the car from the factory so if some gets hurt or dies dirving it 186mph on a track or something they have less basis to sue?

do these things actually work? i've googled some responses, but just curious on your views

Performance chips will not do much on an NA Honda Engine, your friend wasted 25 dollars.

Performance chips help if you buy a factory turbo or supercharged car.

I have a similar question. I "received" a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. I apparently made a mistake. I allowed the owner to hook up some sort of meter or device to the pickup, and download a program. I don't know if he erased the program or not. I gave the Bubba truck to my daughter as her first car, figuring if it wrecks, no loss and it will protect her with its size. What do I do? I have no idea what chip is installed, or what program is installed or erased. I don't even know if it had any value in the first place.
