Thread: 895 versus 995?

  1. #1

    Default 895 versus 995?

    :?:

Just curious, but from those of you who own and have used both the 895 and the V995.....which do you think is better overall? Are they basically the same....or does one have much better range and detection? Also, how is the filtering on each?

Basically....how do these two compare :?: Any personal experiences and stories you can share would be great

I don't own both, but i do have the 895 and I love it. It has given me a max range of more the 2 miles, doesn't false a lot, and it was cheaper then the 995.

For the full price of $200 at RS, I feel it was worth it. It has save me more then $200 in tickets.

Looks like you are paying $100 more for Ku which isn't a concern yet and a few extra options that I don't care about.

    Thanks, asianfire.

If PRICE really wasn't an issue, though (say less than a $25 difference)....would the 895 still be comparable to the V995....as far as overall performance?

    Sorry, can't say. Never used a 995.

Anyone else? I'm guessing that there are a few more V995 and 895 owners who can at least share some info and their experiences with each detector, even if theu haven't owned both......

Both the 895 and 995 share the same circuit board along with the older RX65 only difference lies in the software is my guess

From what I'm hearing.....the V995 has KU band detection (V895 does NOT), as well as a couple of other programmable features (like band selection) that the 895 doesn't. Also, the V995 has the ability to integrate the LaserPro defense system, and comes with a carrying case....and that's about it. Supposedly, though, the detection on X, K, and Ka bands are VERY similar (not sure about laser, but supposedly it SHOULD be).

    Does this sound about right?

That is correct, the 995 does have Ku and 895 doesn't. However, the 895 is compatiable with the LaserPro. I bought a nice case for $8...lol.

Really? Where did you hear this, or how exactly do you know? Because from everything that I've been told, it isn't. But if it is, though, that would certainly be nice.

BTW.....where did you get your carrying case at for $8? (PM me if you'd like) And also, I'd like to look into hardwiring the detector if I go with the 895....do you have yours' hardwired? And where have you found to be the best mounting location for detection....high on the windshield, mid level, lower, etc.?

The 895 is compatible with the laser pro, I got that info off the box as well off the website (965 is basicallythe same thing). The carrying case is just a simple camera case. Yes, mine is hardwired as well. I have it just above the blue tint so it can't be seen (I live in VA) behind the visor on my side. I haven't noticed any performance issues with it being there. I got 2 miles the other day on K band.
