Default Spectre II in Winnipeg, Manitoba?

alright, i have the escort 8500 x50, and have a hard wire kit. have not put it in my car because im worried that it will get siezed and ill be ticketed.

now i have seen very few people running radar detectors, but ppl do do it. my question is, do winnipeg city police use spectre and basically would it be worth it to run a detector.

    the fine is as follows
$230 cdn, 2 demerits on your license, and destroy or seizure of the detector.

now i have a older detector that would be the one that i hand over should i be pulled over.

but i mean, is it worth it? where could i mount it so its not easily visible?

I'm usually in Manitoba about a week a year, and I wouldn't be using a detector if it wasn't an STI.. Mind you, I don't spend any time in Winnipeg though, just fairly empty highways where any Specter out there could see me (and me alone with no other traffic around) coming a mile away. Granted, I don't think there would be many Spectres around small town RCMP shops, but I bet there's a few.

Winnipeg you could probably get away with using your detetor as long as your concientious about it, but if it were me, I'd sell it and get an STI. Maybe I"m biased though, because I have an STI and love it.
Would traffic tickets be the first casualty of police labour action if they were truly an effective safety measure?

Ever been stopped for anything but speeding? Takes too much effort/thought and not enough revenue to catch the truly dangerous drivers.

I'm with Regis... if you just bought a new X50 and hardwire kit, something like $330 or $360 US why not just go all out and get an STI for $450 which comes with the hardwire kit anyway? It's a nice detector. 8)

i have had this detector for 2 years, and has served me very well on every road trip ive gone in.

probabaly gotten me out of 15-20 tickets lol.

i have really been out of the loop with radar's since i bought mine, so i have no idea whats goin on anymore.

whats STI ? and how would i benefit from using it?

alright i just read up on the Bel STI radar detector. im guessing thats what your talking about. that thing looks KILLER lol.

i may have to put my Escort up for sale.

Does it do what it claims to do, Undetectable by SPectre I II and III

and actually give more range than a V1, and gives less falses than an Escort x50?

if this is the case, im buying one forsure.

    Default welcome

Welcome to the forum shocker. X2 to the Regis. In terms of Manitoba, Selkirk Northeast of Winnepeg is using the Spectre III RDD presently. The STi is almost your only hope while in Manitoba. I would think, on those long stretches on prarie land that you could pick up a LEO for miles. Probably can get away w/ a Non STi rd in Manitoba for a little while, but don't be afraid to unplug it at a winks notice. Can't be as much Spectre enforcement as Ontario. They are Spectre hell.

id be worried about losing the STi would i need to unplug that or is it like 100% immune from spectre, as long as its out of visibility from an officer i should not have a problem if im sitting beside a cop correct?

The Sti is completely spectre immune. There are videos with the sti beside a spectre 3 and it still couldn't detect the sti.
