So they can take the RD for evidence, but from what I've heard they only copy the serial # and then hand it back. Less work for the LEO that way.
Also, consider the fact that an RD ticket is cheaper than a speeding ticket and doesn't carry points.

LEOs don't have quotas. They're called "performance goals".
If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Door lock keypads above the driver’s side door handle
More vehicles are coming with this standard. Don't use it as a determining factor. A relative of mine is in law enforcement (federal level) and his last three vehicles (Expedition SSV, Crown Vic, Explorer SSV) have all had the keypads.
On a 'Vic, Charger, or Impala you can probably still feel safe if you see the keypad, the 'Vic mentioned above was a LX civilian model and not a pursuit-certified P71, but I think the P71 Street Appearance Package does offer it. Anything that's not offered in a specific police package I'd be wary of using any factory options as part of my decision in a state like Virginia.
I'm heading to VA for a week in August and trying to determine a strategy. I've always jammed the detector between the headrest and the seat on the passenger side where I could quickly unplug it. Never had any issues.
I guess I could go out and buy the BEL unit, but I'm not keen on dropping that kind of coin for a week's worth of use
I'm heading to VIR and will be out in the middle of nowhere. What's the likelihood one would see the Spectre over the course of a week on back roads? Is VA using laser at this time?
I need to start a Rent-A-Detector business. Rent out STis to people who are making short trips into banned locations.
That said, on back roads you probably won't encounter a Spectre at all, and in the unlikely event that you do, what is it, like a $60 ticket?

I guess I should look at the GOL (??) Spectre test results. I've also got this BEL V940 which I could use in VA if it shows better results than the V1.
Since I was just there alone, this is the way I used my Bel STi. It was sitting where the passenger side head rest closes and it worked great there. Keep your eyes open for deals on Bel STi's. If you look hard enough, you should find one "affordable" but not for $500. IMHO, THAT IS NOT A DEAL!
The Virginia state police have Spectre IV radar detector detectors (although not a large # of them) and they can pick off any non-stealth detector very easy. The only non-stealth detector that would make it a little harder for them is a V1 version 3.826 or earlier version. I'm not sure how easy the newest V1 3.872 is to detect, someone should test it out.
As most of you know, only the Beltronics STi, STi-R, and Escort 9500ci can not be detected by Spectre.
I've posted multiple times on here what the penalties are for getting caught with a radar detector in Virginia, I'm sure the old post can be found.
BTW, the way a lot of people get caught with radar detectors in Virginia is by the officer seeing it.

Thanks, Stealth. My V1 is rev. 3.819. I looked at the GOL charts a while ago. The V1 does pretty well compared to the other popular (non-stealth) units.
Yes, laser is widespread in Virginia. Laser is more popular in areas with dense traffic, but it can be found all over the state. 35.5 Ka frequency radar is the most popular radar in Virginia. Some k band still used. A few locals in select areas have 34.7 Ka frequency. Aircraft VASCAR is used on the interstates; you will see the big white lines that go across the entire highway. Ground VASCAR is rare, but still used. I almost forgot a lot of LEO's personal favorite, pacing.
