Spectre IV and upcoming tehnology
I was reading the other day about Spectre IV. Although their website allows the the 9500ci and Sti are not detectable by this version, they claim that future versions will be able to detect these radar detectors. The descriptions I have always ready about the STI say it is "zero leakage," meaning that no technology will ever be able to detect it. I hope this is true, because RDD's are becoming a treat, even in states where detectors are not illegal.
I was on the highway the other day and someone across the way flashed his brights at me. I dropped 10 mph and when I came over a hill, I immediately received an instant-on signal and saw a state trooper there. He clearly knew I was coming and knew I had a detector, because of Spectre. He was waiting for me and he used radar to clock me and me alone, almost like using laser. Detectors are not illegal in my state, but it seems this is becoming a common type of speed trap, and I really hope that the STI provides protection from this kind of situation for a very long time.

I would not be sure he knew you had a rd. Most of the LEO's I encounter waiting over a hill or hidden are Spot shooting Instant on. They are waiting for a big fish (someone obviously speeding) before they pull the trigger. This is common in alot of states I drive that do not have spectre. Also they do it while rolling (spot shooting) only cars that look like they are speeding. Its getting to be rare to encounter ka being used in constant on mode in alot of states.

I agree that it is a rare occurrance, but I know he was using spectre for several reasons. The first being that I was a single car mixed in with traffic, and when I came over the hill, I was doing the speed limit. He had no reason to clock me if he was not using RDD. Before this, we could not see each other. He clocked my car the very instant that our paths met - the burst of radar was definitely intended for me, and I know he was not hitting anyone before or after me, because I have instant on and pop detection. And the last reason is that as I passed, I looked closely and saw what I am almost certain to be an RDD unit on his windshield.

You're paranoid dude ... I live in a jurisdiction where they do alot more than flash lites at you if they think you have an rd.
Hasnt been a rumour of a new Spectre detecting the STI for months now ... I think they've given up

Post a link. I would like to read this happy horse $#!t.
Radar detectors which I use: 9500ci and STi. Check out my
Vintage Radar Detector collection. Quotes from forum members:
Jag42: "He probably owns the Broke Back Rocky Mountain Radar detector."
partsfreak: "A Cobra is about as useful as a stripper pole in a convent."

Spectre IV Radar Detector Detector
"That's because of the hundreds of radar detector models certified for use in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission, the Spectre IV detects all but two. And it's just a matter of time until Spectre engineers succeed in detecting them too."

What else will set off a spectre? Is there anything short of a 39 dollar cobra we could carry to make a spectre false? Better yet what could be use to completely peg the spectre meter for 5 miles before we pass the LEO and 5 miles after we pass.. that would be great to jam the spectre with false rd energy.. Could you imagine the LEO trying to find the source, cvv horn or not.. Here he is sitting in the median getting a 10 minute strong alert trying to figure out the offender.. lol
that would be cool to be pulled over for a rd to find your coffee maker in your rig is making the spectre go nuts.

Flashing head lights at another driver is a sign there is a cop ahead.. thats what truthalive is referring to, another driver flashed his headlight at him to slow down and he met the cop shortly afterwards. This used to be real common but I dont see it as often as I would like. I also have noticed less warning on the CB radio of a cop ahear in the median etc.

Yeah I was just saying that if that camry hadn't flashed his brights at me, I would have gotten a ticket. I need to upgrade that rx65 to an sti...
