VA State Leo almost got me
I was on Rt. 66 in rush hour this afternoon and I had just passed where hov stops near Gainesville. It's a slight curve and with trucks in front of me and the curve I couldn't see much. Next thing I see is a trooper flying around the curve in reverse. I instinctively shut off my V1 and pulled my visor slightly down. I barely had enough time, maybe 4-5 seconds at most. (STi is at Bel getting the audio ramp up fixed) He drove past me and then drove slowly past all the cars looking for something and I saw the Spectre IV on the windshield. He got back in line and just as he was passing the Haymarket exit I turned the V1 back on and got off on the exit. He turned his lights on immediately and hit his breaks, but he had no way of turning around.

Re: VA State Leo almost got me
That is cool. How far in front of you was the trooper? Just curious as to how far away they can detect the V1 as I got to VA about once a year.

Re: VA State Leo almost got me
I'm surprised he didn't get me the first time. Even though my reaction time was "cat like" and I do mean it was like instinct to turn it off, I thought he had me. I didn't see him until he was just maybe 7-10 car lengths away. He was flying in reverse. He had his hand over the seat and looking my way and I thought for sure he saw me turn the V1 off. I would say he was approximitely 200 yards or less. I have a V1 3.826. I laughed my butt off. I knew once he passed that exit there was no way for him to turn around or back up. There are no more exits for miles, the median was way to steep to go through the grass. He did look really pissed the first time so I can't imagine how pissed off he was the 2nd time. He followed a 18 wheeler for several miles thinking it was him. Thank god for 4 lanes of rush hour bumper to bumper traffic. I want my STi back from Bel!

Re: VA State Leo almost got me
According to the latest tests, the V1 is second behind the STi against the Spectre.
Pretty funny story though, said this trooper got nothing better to do.

^
The pre-digital temp compensation V1s were less detectable by the spectre. The newer versions can be picked up at quite a distance.

Re: VA State Leo almost got me
Actually, the Whistler pro 78 leaks less on the Spectre 3/4 than older V1's supposedly in tests done recently by the GOL.
