    Default Spectres Versus The STis

    Hello Experts:

Have there been any new Spectre developments/improvements that would make the Beltronics STI vulnerable?

Is the Spectre IV out there?

    Any Spectre news?

    Jim in VA.

As of right now, the STI is still undetectable.

The Spectre IV has been out for a year or so. VA State Troopers have both the IV and IV+ in their arsenal and I've been within feet of it. The STi is completely undetectable.

Thanks guys and I REALLY appreciate your expertise and help.

Just out of curiosity two questions:

    1) For those of you like me who do NOT have the remote mount STI in VA, HOW do you mount it inside your vehicle so the cops can't see it but so it still works well?

    2) I've never heard of The Spectre IV+ what are the improvements of it over the Spectre 3's?

    THANKS SO MUCH!

    Jim

Stealth Micro Systems - Spectre RDD

Spectre RDD™ Mk IV and Mk IV + from the industry leader: Stealth Microsystems Pty Ltd.

    Introduction:

The Spectre RDD (radar detector detector) is a sophisticated, high performance RF receiver tuned specifically to detect radar detectors. It listens for the faint microwave emissions generated by a modern radar detector and delivers an audible and visual response.

The Spectre Mk IV and IV + are electronically identical but the later model is optimized for use by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) units in regions where radar detectors are legal for passenger vehicles.

Inexpensive, poorly designed radar detectors are commonly encountered in these areas. Many have poorly shielded local oscillators- the component used to generate a reference signal- and emit a powerful signal. The Spectres' extreme sensitivity enables it to detect such radar detectors at very long range, often one mile or more. This can lead to frequent, long duration alerts, often at ranges where positive target identification is impossible to establish.

More expensive radar detectors typically are better engineered and have lower emissions, making them more difficult to detect. The Spectre IV + is designed to automatically reduce detection range when encountering cheap, high polluting detectors. Yet it accomplishes this with out affecting its ability to detect the higher end, low polluting models.

Another attribute of the Mk IV and IV + is its enhanced ability to limit false alerts caused by the microwave signals common to urban areas. These include microwave automatic door sensors, intrusion alarms and other devices operating on the same frequencies occupied by radar detector local oscillators.
Other important improvements featured on all IV and IV + models:
    • One touch audio mute button to silence audio alerts and then restore audio volume automatically 5 seconds after the signal is last detected.
    • Automatic LED dimming for discrete night operation.
    • A high volume audible alert, easily heard over the background noise from other mobile electronics found in today's patrol vehicles.
    • A temperature compensated front local oscillator for improved accuracy in detecting known radar detector bands.
Standard features from previous model Spectres' are carried over to the IV and IV + :
    • Simplicity of Operation
    • Instantaneous Multi Band reception
    • Anti Cloaking System (defeats radar detectors with VG-2 alert or Spectre Alert)
    • Bargraph Proximity Display
    • Geiger counter style Audio Alarm
    • Small, Compact, and Light (under 500 grams with mounting system)
    • Unique 360 degree mount for easy target ID.
    • Co Axial power cable
    • FCC/ Industry Canada/ ACMA approved for use in police vehicles
Police equipment features unmatched by any other commercially available RDD:
    • Digital RFI/ Low Volt and Voltage Spike detection with indicator and auto audio mute
    • Digital over temperature sensor with audio mute and automatic reset.
    • User adjustable gain control with low gain warning indicator.
    • Eaton Vorad tm ( Vehicle Onboard RADar) compatible
    • Compatible with all standard X, K, and Ka-Band police traffic radar systems.
    • Will not detect satellite radios, and anti collision systems such as Distronic tm found in the USA, Canada, and Europe.
    • Special tuning: Stealth Microsystems Pty Ltd offers this unique service to Traffic Police who use non-standard radar frequencies and Spectre RDDs with in the same vehicle.
