Default Using stealth in non-prohibited states

Is there anyone that has found it to be an advantage to use a stealth radar detector in states that do not specifically ban them. Has a law enforcement officer held it against anyone during a stop within a state where they are not banned?

I am trying to decide between the Escort 9500ix and the BEL sti-Driver.

I like the GPS capabilities of the Escort.....does it matter if it can be detected by some RDD's? I live in Indiana.

Many states have them for truck enforcement, some agencies like TX DPS use Spectre to be selective with I/O radar to nab RD users specifically, on the assumption that they are in the top percentage of violators.

There is one advantage to having a stealth detector in a non-prohibited U.S. state (that's all of the states except for Virginia). The advantage is if you happen to run across a law enforcement officer that had a Spectre RDD for the 1995 federal commercial vehicle anti-radar detector law. If that cop was also issuing tickets to non-commercial vehicles he would know if you have a radar detector if you are using a radar detector that is detectable by Spectre. We all know how having a radar detector changes the attitude and judgement of most law enforecment officers when they think about cutting you a break or not if you have been stopped. So if you happened to encounter that scenario, having a stealth detector could help you a lot.

this is also another reason to mount high and hide it well, if you have a good detector you would see the LEO's radar before his spectra catches you and even when it does, if he can't see it he might assume it is a mistake.

On a side not has anyone tested the new V1 3.872 with the revised board with the spectra 4+, I would think that it should do really good but who knows.
