Not exactly spectre...
How does one monitor what freq and the strength there of RDs leak on? Like an advanced tech mode version of spectre. Can I do it with my regular scanner?
I'm starting some budget RD testing this week and wanted to figure out a way to achieve quantitative interference potential readings.

If you can't search I'm just not going to answer. I'm just flat tired of sounding like a broken record.

You can pick up some lower freqs with a scanner... but to look for the freq/strength of leakage in the same freq range Spectre looks for, you need a Spectrum Analyzer.

Thanks! But uhhh $2k!
(looking fairly nievely at google shopping for RF spectrum analyzer) I think I might be better off finding a spectre device. anyone know where to find those and if they're any cheaper?

Might be a little more than $2K. Don't you need one that can detect 11 GHz and higher signals? This is more like it:

An Agilent 8562EC (13.2 GHz) runs a little over $14K for a refurbished model. You may need a little higher frequency model for some local oscillators, which brings you up to the 21-22 GHz range. An 8563EC (26.5 GHz) runs about $19K in a refurb.
Save your pennies.

Re: Not exactly spectre...
I picked up a $20 RD and am going to start doing some testing (and maybe entice a friend into letting me test with is 8500 and 9500ix)
I want to do some tests on LIDAR sensitivity, the range at C/O detection, length to set off an I/O burst, and the proximity at which detectors start to interfere with each other.
The ideal way to test the last is going to be $$ out of my range as i don't even have jammers yet. So anything that I can use to detect leakage, even if not as exacting I'm willing to entertain.
My V1 with Ka Guard off might be just as good at seeking out the leakage of other RDs.
Course I am going to be starting classes again to finish up my degree this summer, so maybe I'll just start wondering the physics department befriending someone that might be willing to help test lol.
