    Default Hardwiring GPS

Any tips for Hardwiring my GPS?

I hardwired my Radar Detector, and now I'd like to do it for my GPS. I have a Mio Digiwalker C520. I have the car charger, but I'm not sure if I can cut it and then hardwire it like that. I really don't want to ruin the OEM Charger. Can I buy a standard one? The charger has a tip similar to that of the mini usb cables.

This thread has your answer, and applies to anything you want to hardwire that would normally plug into your car's cigarette lighter.

Another solution is to run another auxiliary power outlet somewhere else under the dash where you can better hide the wires. This is what I'm about to do with my Garmin to avoid having to hack up the OEM adapter.

That's what I did for my install especially since my OEM adapter has a built-in traffic antenna and steps-down the voltage. Go to radioshack and get an extra outlet and just hardwire it just like you did with your detector.

same as a radar detector, but you'll need to purchase a small 7 dollar thing from radioshack, it turns your cig lighter adaptor from your gps into a 12v power, and ground, and then it's just using an add-a-circuit, or one you already have, and installing it, very simple, just like a radar detector once you buy that adaptor
