I bought this model for my girl for Christmas. Anyone have any opinions on it?

Nuvi 260W FTW!
Case closed... set him up with the custom POI loader from Garmin, along with trapster, and call it a day.
Sure: Go to Garmins website... (the official one...) and under the 'Products' tab select 'On the road'.
At that point on the right hand side: You should get a set of 'Quick-Links'... and you will see the POI Loader. Download it... simple as following the on-screen instructions.
It allows you to upload Custom POI's from free-&-subscribing data-basis around the world (such as trapster). You just need to connect your Garmin to the computer via a USB cable (USB-to-USB Mini probably, and viola).
So the POI Loader is completely free itself... but some data-basis may make you pay for their Points of Interest... others (like trapster) do not make you pay for their data-basis. Garmin has a website with many of them (data-base sources) last time I knew.
I've had the 760 for a while now and have found that these things are only tools just like your RD. You need to pay attention because mine has tried to send me the wrong way on 1 way streeets before and also onto roads that no longer exist.
They are only as good as the map updates for the area you are in. Dont get me wrong here. I do like it and it will get you to your destination. Just be aware that you may be sent astray if the area you are traveling in has been changed in the last couple years and the maps are not updated.
partsfreak, I know all to well...
In washington last summer our TomTom One tried to send us off a cliff-like "road" that was overgrown with grass... My guess it that there were plans to level out the hill and make a road in the near future...
No way my cousin's Mitsu we were borrowing would have made it out of there alive.
I still love mine, Its so much more than a GPS. POI is cool. When I am on a long highway trip and start getting hungry I put it on POI food and watch all the restaurants as they update until I see something that sounds real good. Then you just hit GO and it will take you there. You see so many options that you would otherwise miss without the toy.
You can also download different Icons for your cursor from the Garmin site.
The bluetooth phone is pretty conveiient too.
