I ordered a return unit last Wednesday and it was on my doorstep Monday afternoon. Much quicker than I antisipated. They said when I ordered they didn't have any returned units in stock and no idea when they would be in. I am pretty sure it was a return unit in that when I turned it on for the 1st time it showed "p" at starup saying it was not on factory settings.
I drove using the factory settings yesterday. Was good on the rural part of my drive but pretty useless when I hit the main drag in town. (West Houston suburbs to Houston). The drive home was not bad. I took a street the runs parallel to the one I took on the morning commute. I was allerted to a Constable running Ka that came up to an intersection from the side as I was going through(Thank You Arrows). This was good because I did not see him until the alert, and would have missed him all together. He got behind me after his light turned green. This is a somewhat empty stretch of road where the limit is 35 mph and I usually am going about 10+ over. So I count this as a possible save.
Last night I programmed it as recommended on the sticky up top and ran the little "l" mode. Much better in town but still had a few more falses than with my old Whistler 1788. I think some were X band falses. The K band seemed much better. It was kind of hard to tell in the dark because I have not learned the different tones yet.
My question is if there is a way to prgram the X band like the K band. I don't want to disable the X all together because I read where X is still used in Texas?
