    Default V1- Remote Mount?

Hey, I was just hardwiring my new V1 into my EVO and for the first time got to hook up the remote mount. PROBLEM... is there no way you can switch between the V1 and the remote mount without unplugging it?

if not this is not very practical I only ordered the remote mount so when I drive on base they wont hassle me and for night time driving...

please tell me there is a way

The remote audio adapter will allow you to do it. The only thing is that it's really expensive if that's all you want to do. ($55). I wouldn't have bought it in the first place if I weren't experimenting with inaccessible mounting locations. I have to believe that there's a simpler way to do it with a normal switch.

called V1 and they confirmed you cant switch between the 2. what a joke!

I should have the option to switch when ever I choose. big negative tick for that waste of 40 dollars.

the lady agreed with me that we should be able to swich on the fly. but I just boxed it up and gonna get me funds back! I'd much prefer to read the big detector then rely on the small one.

that's weird. i can kind of see where you're coming from, but doesn't the remote display show you the same thing the V1 does?

Mine has an on/off switch but it is the old version with no mute or band id.
You might find one on the net if you look for it.

when i first got my concealed display i thought the same thing. the arrows and display are actually roughly if not the same size as the v1's display so you're really not missing anything. also when you mount the detector high--like by your rearview mirror where valentine recommends--i found it's a lot harder to look up when it goes off than look down. i have mine nicely mounted inside my dash and it works great. i dont miss the display blanked out at all.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure I follow. The whole point of the concealed display is to put the visual alerts where they are easier to see. Considering that, there's really no reason to engineer an on/off switch, because why would somebody want to have to look in a less convenient place when you have a perfectly good remote display? Plus, you're going to confuse yourself by having two places to look for visual info when you hear something.

My advice is to just pick a good place for the concealed display and leave it there. If you really truly don't care for the convenienve and don't want people on the base to bother you, then turn it off. Then get yourself a nice scarf with the $40 you're saving. Everybody needs a good scarf.

For what it's worth, I put my remote display in a little pod on my dash and I couldn't imagine a better place for it. It's right in my line of sight so I don't have to take my eyes far from the road when I get an alert. Set up like that there is no need to have the main unit display turned on no matter where it's mounted.
