Finally got around to installing the color LEDs in my remote.
Pretty straight forward but if you never have done surface mount soldering before, I wouldn’t recommend it. Let Lifespeed or someone else do it. For those who are interested I did a lot of research and here is the LEDs for which I feel works best. I did my color scheme red (Laser), orange (Ka), Yellow (K), Green (X). My thinking is it represents the visible spectrum with red being the closest to infared band.
The red LED was left untouched for laser, but I did carefully scratch the red paint off from the inside. You have to do this for all of them because there is a transparent red paint on the inside lens/bezel of the leds front display. A small jeweler’s screw driver works fine to gently round out each hole to get the transparent paint off. The torx driver for the remotes screws is a T8.
Looks great. I have no regrets doing this at all . All have equal brightness. All LEDs have a pipe lens in front of it so it aids in the light output.
Here are the part numbers…All LEDs are around 200 lv (mcd)
X band - Kingbright - green pt# APTD3216CGCK
K band- Kingbright - yellow pt# APTD3216SYCK
Ka band- Digikey - orange pt# 404-1030-1-ND
