Do you mean the RJ11 plug broke? This is common, you can buy plugs and a crimper at Home Depot and fit a new one on the wire in minutes.

Yup, it takes seconds to crimp on a new plug. Probably quicker than running a new wire, if you have it tucked inside the dash/pillar/headliner/etc.

You can always get a regular 4 conductor phone cord, but there are some out there (probably el cheapo ones) that don't work for whatever reason.

If you're removing/replacing the V1 on a daily basis, you might want to add some sort of quick-disconnect to the wire (say, 3 inches from the V1 end of the wire), so you can just pull that apart instead of yanking the RJ-11 all the time. You'll just have a 3-inch pigtail hanging from the V1 when you disconnect it.

Also, if you have a crimper and the plugs, you can build or repair phone wires at home as well. And, if either your phone wire or your V1 hardwire is too long and you have it coiled up somewhere, you can cut off the excess and crimp on a connector, and bingo, perfect length!
