Well go figured the V1's precious arrows (along with K band ghosting) would have gotten those who listen to them a ticket.
I was driving on my way to work yesterday at ~9:30AM just leaving the city... and about .25miles from a railroad track I get a K-band alert (arrow ahead), very light (varied from 1-3 on the signal strength). So I keep my eyes peeled, and just behind the railroad tracks (1/10th of a mile behind), and LEO pulls up running constant on K band so now the V1 is at about 4 on the strength, so he turns onto the road Iím on (oncoming), so the V1 immediately jumps to full signal strength (obviously)... but here is where things get interesting.
Just as he turns and I get a full signal strength from about .1miles away from him the V1 hits a bogey count of 2, both on K band, both ahead... full alert continues. So I think.... oh must be overloading the V1 and I have got ghosting on K-band (has happened with a Cayuga County Sheriff before), and as we pass the arrows go ... front to side (after his trunk is at my door), then rear about a second later... but suddenly the 2nd bogey disappears, so now this is obviously K band ghosting... with the arrows working to tell me it ghosted
The arrows followed the LEO, from front, to side, to rear as the Bogey count was at 2, with both bogeys behind for a second, then it dropped to 1 just after he had passed me , retaining a very strong signal ~6... so 2 bogeys safely behind me the V1 says.
WELL WELL WELL the V1 was wrong COMPLETELY WRONG:
I just go over the railroad tracks and start to round this little bend... and the rear signal fads to nothing as I round the bend, passing the road where the (1st) LEO had came from.
I turn on my signal to turn into the (1st driveway) of my workplace... when I look ahead AND BOOM Instant on K band arrow dead ahead full-blast about 1/8th of a mile away in the 2nd driveway of my workplace where another city LEO had set up an instant on k-band trap where the 35 turns into a 40 (people always speed up to 45/50 early)...
There he was folks, the 2nd Bogey the V1 said I had just passed with an arrow to the rear... looking about ~.4/.5miles up the road I see the car that set off the instant on K band from this 2nd LEO causing the second bogey.
The V1 must have been overloaded by the situation and sent the 2nd bogey from the front, to the sides, to the rear... leaving the city where there are no other falses in the area either.
I sat up in the first driveway, watching this LEO target cars with instant on, and he painted them for a good amount of time, it was ~how long the 2nd bogey lasted on my counter that I had (or the V1 thought) that I passed.
Its a good thing I am a smart RD user... and I never speed back up until I know things are clear, which is why arrows dont help good drivers, and smart RD users.
In this case a radar detector WITHOUT arrows would have been a much better choice folks... the arrows actually gave the wrong information, and had I listened to them... as the V1 drones say they(the arrows) tell you if you have passed the bogey and they are so precious and helpful, listening to this information I would have been toast. No arrows are certainly better then arrows displaying incorrect information...
That was a disgraceful display by the V1, which would have propelled its owner(s) to speed back up and get a ticket had they listened to it saying the threats were safely behind them.
I must say this is yet another nail in the coffin of VR's spectacular product.
I will try to get pictures of the area of this encounter in the next few days.
