Default "J" = get the new revision on V-1.

Well, as I've reported before about a real world Ka band scenario and the V1 going to "J" and deleting the whole event.

It happened again tonite except for the fact if I was not paying attention and slowed down anyway I would of been had. I was driving back to Dover from Salisbury MD on 13 and there had been an awful wreck. poor car looked like it flipped 12 times. but the guy that hit him tried to hit and run and his car quit 2 miles up the road smoking *ouch*

but, approaching the wreck I got a weak Ka. and I could see the cop cars. when I was parallell to the wreck the Ka got stronger from the front. I was like WTF. sure enough a cop was running instant on Ka band about a mile up from the wreck. the V1 picked it up and I was happy with TONS and I mean TONS Of warning probably a good minute & half.

but about a mile up from this officer I got a weak Ka again from the front and it went instant "J" but I was like something is fishy. I slowed my pace, turned it off, and then turned it back on and changed it to A and about a half mile later I got a 5 bar Ka band. then nothing. as I approached a little farther bam 7 bar Ka band and nothing. this officer was running instant as well. had I not been paying attention and wrote the J off I could of had a ticket.

for now I'm turning J off and am calling V1 on monday to give a little mouth to ear service for having a crappy option on as default. this is twice in 2 weeks it has went J on an actual source.

just a heads up. maybe I have a faulty unit but I know V1 better have a good answer!

You are probably on to something. Maybe there will be an upgrade soon to fix that. I never personally encountered this problem but then again I hardly face any ka band threats just K abnd threats. If you are not happy sell your V1 on Ebay and get an X50 or an RX65. I would go with the RX65 before the X50 just because of somethings that I read

oh haha. I've owned both of them and I have strong feelings towards them. The V1 is in my opinion the best hands down no questions ask. Its just this J function is a joke, and now that is turned off I feel safer I just want people to be aware that in one week I've had it "J" two real encounters!

I feel the same way as you do but for some reason people get really defensive when the "light" is shown on the highway

You should post your software REV# so other people can keep an eye out for the same problem...

thestaton, Were any vehicles driving by around the time you got the J alert?
Are you totally disregarding the fact that a litigate junk detector might have been driving by making it three actual hits?
Maybe the V1 was getting ready to display a second bogy at the same time you turned it off then back on.

Turning off the "J" feature disables POP detection on the V1.
With POP turned off, the V1 might not have even reported the weak Ka from the front at all.

SpinThis! It is supposed to be extremely rare until most of the junk detectors come out in the summertime.
When I had my V1.8 I only got one J alert in the three weeks I had it, and I drive for a living.
