    Default Just had a thought

I was wondering it if would be possible to make the arrows light up diffrent colors, IE Blue=Laser Red=Ka Orange=K Green=X? Could that work? And if so how much do you think it would cost?

That's a good question. Lifespeed (see sticky at top of V1 section) offers to change out the round band indicators to different colors, but I've never read about anyone doing the arrows. It's a good question for lifespeed. That would be very interesting. If the V1 had a modern display, a more high-res display, it could certainly do something like that. Perhaps that's what the next V1 will bring to the table...

To do that they would have to have enough room for 4 leds behind each arrow. There are multicolor LEDs available but they are not as bright as single color LEDs. They are most likely using surface mount LEDs so there might be enough room.

That is a good idea, but multiple colors are not that important to me. I would rather see Spectre immunity and more range, etc. than display changes. I am happy with the range I get now but would always like more.

I searched and didnt find anything. I have the lifespeed remote but I want to hide my display behind the clock and the way I wanted to do it was just the arrows if I could get the arrows to light up diffrent colors.

doggod, when lifespeed first starting doing the mod's i asked him the very same question. he attemtped to do it but ran into problems as (if i remember correctly) it was difficult to fit all of the different color led's into the arrow area and well as run all the wiring. i think if you cycle through the first 5-8 pages of lifespeed's thread you should find that info.

IMHO, that would just be doubling up. not useful and not feasible from an information stand-point.

WHY? you already have a band indicator, and what would you see with multiple bands from the same direction. Tye-Dye arrows? LOL

Tie die arrows would be sick. I was planning on putting the display behind my clock and the band id probably wont show up very well, plus I think I would like the arrows better, I didnt think about multiple bands. But here it would just be k and ka.

I suppose it would be possible to mount multiple color LEDs behind the arrows, and use logic gates to determine which color to illuminate based on which band is illuminated, but it would require some additional circuitry. It would be fairly simple to do it for single bogeys, but for multiple bogeys, not only would you potentially get "tye-dye" arrows, but say for example that you have a K bogey ahead and a Ka behind. The logic wouldn't have a way of knowing which arrow represents which band. With 2 bogeys the flashing could be used to determine, but if there's 3 or more, it could become confusing.

VR would have to add more info to the communication protocol in order to distinguish the arrows for each bogey. Instead of saying "front arrow on, rear flashing, Ka flashing, K lit" it would have to say "K front, Ka rear, flashing", etc.
