    Default too much sensitivity?

I bought my V1 about a month ago and it's been great, but I live around an area with a lot of shopping centers and car dealerships so it goes off A TON around those, sometimes even registering up to 7 or 8 on the bogey counter and all the arrows going off (i put it on L and it finds less... but still goes off a lot). My friend has an X50 and recently he put his next to mine in my car. we drove around and his didnt go off as much as mine around these, and when it did, it would only register one or two sources of radar. I know they are both great detectors but does mine go off too much, or are all valentines like this?

i'd say about half the sources in these areas are X and half are K... i'm considering turning X off completely

You shouldnt run two detectors on the same windshield at the same time, it could cause one to be more talkitive or less. You want to make sure that no LEO's use X band in your area before you turn it off. You could also try a k band auto mute in l or L mode to quiet the unit down a bit. Welcome to the forums.

never tun two detectors side by side let alone on the windshield, notonly does it make one less talkativ, but there is a chance of permanent damage.... not good..... but u paid 400 dollars for a very sensitive RD and all those alarms are, is what u paid for..... seems like the X50 filters them out pretty well not bad for 300 dollars

i had an X50 prior to my V1 and to tell you the truth the V1 is the same if not better disregarding falses in my area.

i was surprised as all i heard was how V1 doesnt filter as well...

With my unit, in "A" mode its really quiet.....Even some areas where the X50 was falsin, the V1 is quiet...

No permanent damage can occur by running two RDs side by side, but the performance of either or both detectors will suffer while they are both on.

When you turn one detector off, the other will return to full performance.

Too sensitive? Not for me!! the "falses" you are gtting are actual radar band signals. Just not from a police unit. Use either of the logic modes, and I agree to try the K-Band muting. But once you get away from the polluted airwaves-hell, make sure you slide it back into All-Bogeys.

I would rather be warned of non-threatening sources, then not be warned of a threat at all. An RD is a tool, it is not the tell-all end all, speeding ticket ending unit.
