False Reading for 2 hours
I was on my way back from St Louis to Cincinnati and along about Terre Haute IN I get a rear Ka detection. It hovers around 1-3 LEDs for the next 2+ hours all the way into my garage. Then the next morning it starts doing the same thing again. I take the unit over to VR and they can't reproduce the problem in their lab. They end up replacing the insides and 30 minutes later I'm on my way to Chicago after talking to Mike for a sec. The lab tech told me they were aware of a problem with satalite radio external antennas when it is placed on the rear deck as mine was but we could not get the V1 to go off with the radio on. Well, half way to Chicago the V1 starts bleeping Ka with nothing in sight. The rear arrow stays on for about 10 minutes and I decide to turn the Sat radio off and whola the V1 stops alerting. I turn the radio back on and the V1 alerts Ka again. I go through this several times "just to make sure". I move the V1 about an inch to the left on the windshield and it stops. I wouldn't think that if it were receiving a signal from the Sat antenna it would get it anywhere it was mounted on the front windshield. I know this has been talked about. The lab tech at VR said I should place the antenna on the trunk but my Maxima's trunk is not magnetic. Anyone else experience this?
