    Default V1 updated to 3.824

I've been a lurker here for about three weeks. I purchased a V1 second hand from a friend. It had the 3.619 firmware before the recent update to 3.824. I had a chance to drive about 250 miles today and here's my observations. I had no false alerts beyond what the old version had. Sensitivity is better on ka band. I'd estimate about 3 seconds more warning at a known speed trap. When the unit is programmed to eliminate the ka falsing protection(6-V) it doesn't false like the 3.619. Remained quiet in areas where the 3.619 version would false.

I encountered 3 ka band traps. Two were instant on and the trap I described above was constant. The detector gave supurb warning on both. So far I'm very pleased with the $55 upgrade.

True, but I sure am having a good time with mine.

I've had it about 4 days. I'll post my observations after about a week or so.

You will absolutely love the V1... Sounds to me like it has already paid for itself.

It's expensive, sure... but it's worth every penny!

Absolutely, I believe that any of the top 3 detectors are worth every penny. They all have paid for themselves time and time over again.

wow, good to hear from someone who has the new update. I'm excited to get back in the states and try mine out with the new update. Hopefully no more J alerts that are actual cops

    keep us updated

I passed a trooper on the way to work. He was running constant on radar. The detector informed well in advance. I slowed to the indicated 45 mph before cresting the hill. About 10 seconds after he passed the detector gave a "J" alert.

I am thinking of buying a V1 in a couple weeks since I will be driving cross country. I don't understand what this J issue is, and if I should wait longer to buy one until a new version is out?

    Thanks,
    Rick
