****Question for V1 users****

A friend of mine recently purchased a v1 off ebay the unit looks basicly new and seem's to work fine. When I go into valentine's site and type in the serial # it say's the detector has pop1 and can be upgraded to the latest pop2 version for a fee, however i have been doing a little searching through this forum and it seems that a couple people have had problems with the latest version something to do with the J/junkmode feature. I quess my question to everyone with the v1 is, do you think it is really worth it to upgrade to the latest pop2 version? I would greatly appreciate your input thanks!!

My personal opinion is yes I would upgrade it. MY "J" deal has come on a few times on the highway.

You're friend would probably well-served to wait a few months for VR to get things sorted out.

First off: Are you sure there is a fee for the update? For a while it was free.
Second: Either way, I'd go for it. I have the newest version, and it works like a champ.

Your frend should double check about the fee. I just got my V1 POP1 upgraded to POP2 for free a week ago

Since you ALREADY have POP1, you might as well send it in for POP2 for FREE of CHARGE.

If it wasnt the POP version, like mine, I would advise NOT to upgrade.

You sure it's free when I enter the serial # on their site it say's there is a $75.00 fee for the upgrade + shipping on top of that. You said if it wasn't the pop version, like mine I would advise not to upgrade, Just curious as to why you wouldn't upgrade, Is the V1 without pop better?

if you have pop1 installed, VR will upgrade your V1 to POP2, free of charge. If it is asking you to spend money, then something isn't right.

I've stated in other threads... POP is RARELY used right now. There are some issues with the POP guns. You are more likely to have democracy in China than you would getting hit with POP radar as of May 22, 2005.

V1.9 is on the horizon.. probably added extras on instore. maybe a redesign? smaller? invisible to all RDD? Why spend the 55.00 on the upgrade, when you are going to have to spend another 150.00 for the new version.

IF POP was being USED frequently by officers, I would get the upgrade, but that is not the case.

AND, some people are having minor issues with the J feature.
