Default KA band lock on time?

While on my way back from work tonight, travelling south bound on I540 at a speed of a little over 80mph(speed limit is 70mph). I came across what I think is a LEO hiding I assume on the bypass speedup lane?

As soon as I hit the merge lane, my V1 KA band went off showing full strength on the indicator and instantly I stomp on my brakes. I was expecting a pair of headlights closing in fast on me follow by the flashing lights waiting to be pulled over.

    But it never did happened.

So I was wondering, could my sudden deceleration cause the radar to register a lower speed? I assume once hit by the radar gun, it might take a second or two before it show the LEO my speed am I correct or is it like LASER, once hit it will show my speed?

Curious mind wanting to know. :?:

Thank you for your time and patience.

I would have to say that the officer was pulling over cars on a 10+mph basis. Therefore, at 80mph you were still in his grace zone and avoided a ticket.

    Just my thoughts.

I agree with the above..........and the fact is NO you didnt mess up the RADAR it wouldve got your speed easily before you touched the brakes, RADAR is just that fast

it takes 1/2 sec to get a reading, just as fast as laser. I've been instant-on with Kband doing only 10mph above psl, most leo's will not even bother

Could be the cop didn't get a positive I.D on you. He may of got your speed but couldn't i.d you as the offender. Where there other car's in the near area? If so that will be it. Because you slowed so fast the cop couldn't tell if it was you or the guy beside you etc. I'm thinking that this is yet another V1 Moment

The closest car was about quarter mile both ahead and behind me.

instant on is a biotch. I got hit this am on the way to the train in morristown NJ. He was sitting on a side street and hit me from behind. Lucky I looked in my rear view right before he hit me and was able to keep it about 2 miles an hour over...v1 picked it up almost immediately but if i hadn't looked in my rear view who knows..

    Default Ya

Ya you gotta watch your rear veiw side mirrors they are getting into sneeking up on individuals from the rear and using instant on so they get no advanced warning they are also getting into waiting every 20 cars or so then triggering instant on so as to not leave a detector user with any warning as to there location.. THey love to park on the sholder of the road at night and then wait for you to pass them so they look like a broken down car then hit you from behind they usually use ghost cars for this type of operation...I myself almost got nailed in this very fashion one night luckily i am taking criminal justice clases to be a Leo and all i had to do was tell the Leo my professor and he was like see ya later bud...
