Thread: V1 Settings

    Default V1 Settings

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but what is the optimum settings for the V1 for highway, city, and rural use?

I live in Vancouver, Washington and commute to Portland, Oregon everyday. If anyone lives nearby and has settings that seem to work well in this area, I would appreciate your input as well.

    Thanks for your help!

I drive in a pretty good mix of city and highway. In general my strategy is to run in All-Bogeys and switch to Advanced Logic if I start getting falses. Advanced Logic does a good job on X-band and helps a little bit on K-band. No bands are disabled anymore because I thought X-band was extinct here but managed to prove myself wrong. I'm wary of auto mute programming because I don't want to miss instant-on.

hrm. curious is there a big diff in little l (logic) and big L (advanced logic) when driving in the city? Any time I hit the interstate I always switch to All Bogeys but you all have spiked my intrest in Advanced Logic now.

I also did some reprogramming to auto mute Kband for the first 10 seconds or until it reaches over 4 bar for city driving which I have found really helps.

    cheers

I'm running little L and utilizing V1 Dave's excellent custom settings (which includes shutting down X band).

BTW, Mike has finally updated the programmable settings page to include the latest revisions:

Reading the manual usually answers all questions.

L mode will not display what the computer thinks is BS X band.
(small L) will display all X band but will mute until the computer thinks you should know about it.

I am going to disable X band as we speak right now..... since I have yet to find a cop using X band in St Louis.

These are the changes I have made to my V1 (3.818):
    • 1 (X band off)
    • 5 (Ka band alert more responsive)
    • 7 (Features b thru G enabled)
    • b, d (5 second mute delay for k band)
    • G (Mute rear K band)
    • J (PoP off)

...it makes the unit far more friendly around the city where I do 99% of my driving. If I want to revert, I simply switch to the A mode.

It's important to understand why it's essential to run in the small L mode, not the big L mode. You could end you missing critical warnings.

Thanks, Dave !! These were great tips.

As of today I run in (A) Mode. I do city and county driving, I don't see much K falsing at all.

Since many cops use K band, I wouldn't mess around with any of the muting features... As long as you can SEE the alert, I guess it is ok to mute it. But I have mine mounted near my rear view mirror, so I won't see the V1, especially during the day. At night is a different story.
