Default mute button specs on concealed display

Does anyone have the specs on what happens to the data lines when the mute button is pressed on a valentine concealed display.

    Example
When you hit mute on a bel/ escort product the yellow lead goes to ground (actually ground via a resistor) .

The reason we ask is simply because were going to add auto mute feature to our NavAlert gps for people who want to automatically mute their detector in set areas (parking lots with microwave door openers, toll both , drone area etc. Please only reply with specs if you have them, not comments about the feature or what were doing, this can be commented on in our other thread (http://www.radardetector.net/Automut...rms-16330t.php )

Were not looking to wire directly to the button but rather make a simple pass through connector however dont have a valentine here to test- am i correct , assoons as you attach the concealed display it turns off the main display, is it possible to add a external mute button on the power data lines - maybe someone has done this already.

Basically we want to plug a cable into the accesory plug which will give the correct signal to mute the detector.

I put a 10K in the pictures because it works, and it's common.
But, the actual value of the resistor in the remote display from VR is 4.3K:

    Default valentine gps muting

perfect, that’s exactly what I needed, this means bel escort and valentine will all require a simple single ground wire coming from our NavAlert aux out, then the user need to only tie the mute wire to ground with a resistor between. to simple.

Now time to decide on a radius amount we will cause the unit to keep the unit in mute mode, I suspect 100 meters/yards is good, the user could simply ad additional spots if they want to cover a wider area.

Should work well, simply drive as close to the false source then save that location, next time you approach this area, or anything within a 100 meter radius the unit will be in mute mode - no more annoying stops at the gas pump and or shopping mall toll booth.

Jimbonzzz, Using your diagram, #2, above I wired up an external mute switch for my V1. The only difference is I is that I didn't use the resistor. I found another diagram, I think it was on this site but I forget, didn't use the resistor. IT WORKS GREAT!!!!! The only thing I would do different is I won't buy the push button switch from Radio Shack. I bought the enclosure from Newark. Nice little box by Pomona.

All I know is that the resistor is in the original circuit. So, caveat emptor...
