    Default Great New V1

well ive been testing out my V1 all day and it was extremely succesful, i bought the new 3.856 and i believe someone said something about the J'ed out thing not working, like after if J's out a band you have to turn off and turn back on your V1, NOT TRUE. i was driving and got a Ka and about 1 sec later it J'ed it and i noticed a cobra driving next to me well i stayed with him and never picked up another Ka false and then about a mile down the road still being next to this guy i get another Ka this time no J'ing it out and the strenthg meter increaes as i get closer and sure enough it was a LEO down the road very impressed, o and i asked VR about the E and they said if you get that its probally just getting used to your cars voltage and simply turn it off and back on and you shouldnt get it again, they said on my version though the E if it happens at all will only happen in the first few days of use.

    xXCriticizeXx,

I realized that they fixed the having to turn off and on again after a J. When you said that VR told you that if you get an E within the first few days it just probably means the V1 is getting used to the car's voltage. that sounds maybe why I only got two E's with in the first three days I had mine. It is nice and comforting to know that my V1 is working fine now. I have version 3.854 so it just might be that. Thanks for keeping us informed!

    Sincerely,

    Ace_Racer

Glad you are enjoying your V1---thats kind of weird that the V1 had to get used to your voltage (about the E)

Who told you this at VR???

The reason for turning off/on the V1 after a J is when the V1 erroneously Js out a real (LEO) threat. Power-cycling clears the J and allows you to confirm that it is really the LEO shooting the radar (because it will start alerting again). Js automatically clear themselves 10 seconds or so after the signal goes away.

    x2,

The reason why we re-cycle the power is because the 'J' has been known to be incorrect on occasions, which means it J's out a real-LEO... so by re-cycling it (as kpatz said), this allows us to either confirm the 'J' or to confirm it as a real-LEO source radar alert.

WOW confirmed POP actually working. so im going down a fairly wide road with lots of curves and i suddenly get a POP and about 3-5sec later i get a K band steadly increasing and then disapears, about 30 sec later another POP and this time they K stays on and increases and as i come around the Corner i see that a LEO has pulled someone over and left on his radar. I know they use POP here and im so happy the V1 did such a great job, but if i turn POP off will i have better range on K and Ka and will there be less falses, which so far the falses that i get normally are there for a split sec and then gone. Im very pleased with this RD and if anyone gets one and in the first few days gets a E just turn it off and turn it back on and see if it happens again. O and my V1 J's and is onyl there for about a sec before it goes back into reg operatiing mode so maybe its just that they fixed it.

Um it is my understanding you can't tell the difference between (real) POP on the V1 and a normal V1 K or Ka band alert... so how do you know it was POP?

Correct me if I am wrong... but I believe the V1 just displays the band and the signal strength with the normal tones, and it is impossible to tell wether it was instant on or POP... so how did you know?

Maybe I am wrong and it does display something else, but I didnt think so... so it would be mighty hard to tell.

The odds of getting hit with POP are slim (at best).

when i say POP i mean the K band suddenly Popped on with arrow pointing ahead with the strenthgh about half way and then disapeared so i assumed by the sudden strength it wasnt a false, and as i get closer the reg K kicks in around were the "POP" K was and i know for a fact in this area they use POP because i got it on my last detector in this area, just know were near at the distance i got it with the V1. sry if i confused you
