    Default Positioning of the V1..

Well, I bit the bullet and bought one... it arrived yesterday.

I prefer the visor mount, as its the easiet to take off when I have to hide it. (I a commuter to a college..)

Where I have it, is pretty level.. but its on a very slight downward angle. Is this going to be a major problem? or am I alright?

If I need to take pictures.. I will.

Other than that, its pretty good. I am taking the advice of someone in another thread and leaving it on "A" for awhile... ran into no cops just yet, but I also haven't hit the major highways.. Any other advice for a new V1 user? I live in NJ.. so, I'll probably be leaving the "X" band on once I move to "l" or "L".

    Thanks.

It needs to be completely level!!!!

And the good thing is the windshield mount is the easiest in the world of radar detectors to take off.

Leave X band on and run small 'l' in the city and A on highway

As long as you have X band enabled putting in 'l' or 'L' won't "turn off X" it will just mute the alerts until it is closer.

The reason I use 'l' is that the alerts visually go on the V1 as soon as they are recieved and un mute it when they are stronger. 'L' wouldn't alert or even display the X alert until it gets stronger.

I thought little L turns off X band?

    UpandDown,

The only real thing I can think of that might be even slightly decreased by a downward angle would be picking up laser scatter from the rear (assuming the front is down) As far as radar is concerned it will be fine. Good decision on leaving it in A mode for awhile until you get accustomed to your surroundings. Since you live in NJ and X band is a threat to you l(lodgic mode) does filter primarily out X band but not totally do where you would miss a strong alert. Also in this mode you can add up to a 30 second automute for K band. L (Advanced Lodgic Mode) will not report X band until it breaks the threshold you program it to. Example after 4 or 6 LED's on the strength meter. Remember that A (All bogeys) will override all automute settings and report threats instantly. Great for highway driving. I am sure others on here will help you out some more, but that is what I know so I hope it helps clear up your question with the angle and the different modes (A,l, L)

    Sincerely,

Guys just so we are clear the V1 has two volume knobs. The Main volume knob and the Muted volume knob(you can adjust the loudness of the "muted" alerts.

Right out of the box with no programming alterations Running 'l'(little L) just starts off X at the muted volume, but it DOES NOT effect your range. The V1 will alert X at a muted volume than once the alert gets stronger it will alert the sound at main volume level. The V1 will also be displaying the X-band alert.

NOW if you are using 'L'(big L) mode the X-band alert will not visually appear nor alert until the alert is strong.Strong means the point at which in 'l' mode the alert goes from muted volume alert to main volume alert.

As for mounting find a wqay to keep it level on the the visor. Like puting something in between visor and roof to keep it level

my is up high half way covered by window tinting and to the left of the RVM, they tint isnt affecting it though because its not compl underneath it and its pretty level for the most part and mine has been working great.

Exactly. The tint won't affect radar range unless it is METALLIC. So just be careful!

The fuzzy Dice have got to go

They will decrease the range of all bands of your V-1 and not allow you to pick up Laser

Fuzzy dice go better with Cobra and Rocky Mountain Radar detectors.
