    Default Should I Order Today?

Hi guys, I’m thinking about buying a V1. I had one in the past and I had absolutely zero problems with it. Now all I hear is about the “E” thing and how the X50 and RX-65 trounce it in K band performance. My questions are, if I do purchase one and get the “E” does that mean I have to send it back for repair or does it reset itself. Also according to this web site http://guysoflidar.com/radar-detecto...testjan06.html the V1 looks like it’s better than my current X50 on the K bands. Do you guys agree with the test? If I knew the “E” thing would not cause me problems and the V1 has great K band performance (equal to or better than my current X50) I would order today. Thanks for any help.

here's how I look at it. get what you want today and be happy with it. with technology things are always changing so if you wait you could end up waiting for ever.

with respect to the v1 i'm not 100% convinced that my 3.856 is as good as my old 3.826. however there warranty is very good and if something does go wrong you simply mail it back, they repair it and mail it back at there cost.

I don't think you'll find any detector that is as good as the V1 when it comes to K band. Laser it is the king and probably will always will be the king. As per Ka performance you will not see much of a difference between the v1, x50 or rx-65.

personally I'd save your money and be happy with the rx-65.

I had the same question, but I ordered it anyway. Now I'm a happy V1 user. Just tested 4 days so far, and it had ACCURATELY alerted me of LIDAR presence TWICE (each time with 'bout half mile from LEO). I think the chance of getting "E" error on the current 3.856 revision is very RARE. I think xxCriticizexx and I are among the recent buyers of the 3.856 revision, and we hadn't encountered any problem yet.

Default I would have to say no

I would have to say no. I am a beleiver that valentine one has better k band distance, and response time than x-50. In fact I just got 2.5 miles of detection range just today on mine. I thought that was very impressive. There was even a little hill inbetween me and the radar source. It was a straight line from when I detected it to the radar source, but that is still impressive in my book. I have tested the x-50 in this same scenario, and it proved to be less sensitive to k band radar.

OK. Here is my take on it. With the V1 and the "E" issue I found that if you use different phone cords (not ones included with the V1) it could cause the E possibly due to not enough or too much voltage then the V1 needs. Also, I got only 2 E's during the first three days and haven't seen it since. VR told me that the V1 was just getting used to my car's voltage. Remember that is what VR told me so I assume they know what they are talking about. And yes the V1 has superior K band detection at least over the RX65 and I own both and have a video to back that statement up.

    Here you go: http://www.radardetector.net/VIDEO%3...%29-16189t.php

So basically that is my thoughts with the "E" problems and I tend to agree with it since I only got those 2 E's during the first three days I had it and haven't seen it since! See my version in my signature. The latest as of this post is 3.856.

I was upset about the .826 to the .851 jump right after my purchase. but it looks like the .826 is the top performer now! So I am happy again, I am just glad I didn't send it in and pay for the revision upgrade to have doubts.

From what I am reading the .856 is the catsass now, Get the unit, and be happy.

Has anyone on this forum, sent in their V1 version 3.826 and had it upgraded to 3.856? If so, what was the cost and are you happy with it?? No bashing necessary, I'm thinking about upgrading my .826. Thanks for any input.

keep what you got until testing is done to see how these newer revisions are performing, if it is a miniscule improvement, why spend the coin? it may be worse than the .826, we do not know, and anyodyb stating they do know is just speculating without any scientific basis.
