Default No Question What is the best!

I just found this forum by accident and have to put in my two cents.

I've been running detectors religeously since the mid 80's when my orignial Escort mounted on the dash of my MR2 saved my bacon in a race down the Florida Turnpike with a Porshe. At about 122 mph the escort burped and I slam braked it and got to laugh at the Porsche two miles later visting the FHP. Shortly after that the car and the Escort were stolen.

Since then I ran them all and longed for that old Escort until about a year and a half ago when I got a V1. It is mounted so it looks out just below the tint strip just to the right of the rearview, hardwired down to the remote in mid console. Totally invisible to the outside.

From the moment I turned it on I loved the old Escort style gieger counter alert tones with variations for bands ... who need LED's. Better yet was adjustable mute ... wow, now I can mute and still have full input by sound? Yes! But nothing prepared me for the arrows, oh those lovely arrows.

I was running through South Carolina just last month on a trip in a group of about 6 cars moving well through traffic maybe 90, 95 ... I could tell everyone had detectors and for about 100 miles everyone got about equal alerts based on the fact that everyone slowed and sped at about the same times. Then in SC I got a Ka alert ... that usually means the law so I backed her on down as did everyone else. Sure enough as we rolled down, there was SC State sitting in the median and the V1 was just buzzin away. We all rolled safely by!

But wait... what's this, as we passed the lawman and everyone is beginning to pick up speed, I look and my arrow still say FRONT ... huh, he's behind us now right? So, as everyone else took off in a sprint I looked again and held 70 in the right lane because the arrow still said FRONT and the buzz wasn't backing down. As I approached a rise about 1/2 mile ahead there was a trooper tucked way deep in the brush and my arrows flashed across, then back as I slid past him at 70. About another half mile down the road were about 15 chase cars with about five of them currently busy with my previous travel companions. I did wave as I passed.

This is not a unique story. I love the fact that the V1 litterally TALKS to me and tells me EXACTLY where the law is. Bless its little electronic soul it is one of my best friends because while any detector will tell you the law is there, only the V1 will tell you WHERE!

Sounds like a good story - but also sounds a lil beefed up to me.

That's why I let my video do the story-telling

    little beefed?

I dont get why these people with the other detectors of about equal detection distance would be speeding up when their detectors would be at full alert.

technically those other rd owners are stupid..because if there is another thread ahead and so their detector would be blasting full ka and none of them have a rear antenna so if they were actually smart they would realized it was ahead

    sounds similar to this

I was westbound on Oregon Highway 26 coming over Mt. Hood, traveling quickly, with a small sports car following. I picked up an instant on, very weak, and dropped to 55. The sports car had a detector, but he continued on for half a mile before he hit his brakes. We both continued at 55 for maybe three miles when we saw a state car coming toward us with his radar playing.

As soon as he went by we both jumped back up to cruising speed. Shortly, in not more than a quarter mile, I picked up a second, stronger, instant on from the front. I dropped to 55 again but the other guy pointed behind to the stater that just went by, and opened up on me.

Six miles up the road I saw the same sports car, this time pulled over and talking to another stater. Turns out the first one was just a decoy. I stopped up the road to get a bite. After about twenty minutes the sports car pulled in; he wanted to ask me what I had for a detector. “Valentine one” I told him; “I swear by it.” He had a Passport. My arrows and bogey counter made the difference.

Another graduate of Mike V's creative writing classes.

Points off for missing out the bogey counter going from 1 to 2 bogeys blah blah blah...

I much preferred last months offering where there was a hot chick in a flash convertible involved and the prospect of wild sex in the evening. 8)

Anyway, welcome to the Valentine Board, you'll fit right in.

That is kind of exagerated, 15 chase cars??? that has to be the BIGGEST speed trap ever   . I not sayign it is a lie but the story is kind of weird, if my Rd is going on full blst after I passed the cop and it does not go down at all I know there has to be someone clocking me, also that is why the Expert meter is for.

I wont lie the arrows are VERY good at doing their job in cases like that.

Well no I didn't think about that but if that's the case the stories even more bogus and if you think about it for a moment you'll know why.

It's the same BS story over and over again. What is it about V1 owners that drives them to write this stuff?
