    Default new 3.856 yesterday

hi guys, ive been reading on this forums for a while now, and finally pulled the trigger on the v1. it's 3.856, and it got here yesterday. i havn't had much chance to test it out yet, just going around and getting x and k band door openers

i have it on L mode, and havn't had any E's yet. what bothers me is the range and the strength indicator though - i have yet to hear a continuous tone, and i hardly get a 0.1 mile range. is it because i'm on L mode? then what would explain it not notifying full strength (i think it's continuous sound? or is it just for ka) when i'm right next to the door opener? it just gives me like 3-8 bogeys and goes crazy at 4-6 dots.

anyway, i'll test this out some more tomorrow (hopefully meet some leo's) and post some videos of it if i can. thanks,

    andy

I ran my V1 (1.8 w/POP2) in "A" mode and had awsome range and filtering from that model.

I would get used to the V1 in A mode, and depending on your area you can mostlikly turn off X band. http://valentine1.com/lab/MikesLabRpt3.asp

Also make sure you turn it to A mode when you get on the freeway, you dont want to miss anyhting.

sounds like you need to program your v1. first off where are you from (so we can figure out what bands are used in your area). if no X band is used, disable it. also if k is not very popular, turn on k band automute which will supress alot of k band falses. there was this great sticky on how to do this and understand it but some jealous guy took it off. well anyway this will make your v1 a lot more quiet and tollerable.

    hi,
yea, i was going to reprogram the v1 today, turn off xband, ka more responsive. what does 'automute' mean? if i set it to 3 secs (b,C,d all down) does it mute the alerts after 3 secs of alerting, or stay muted for the first 3 seconds, then start alerting?

i'm from pittsburgh, pa, and i read that vascar and stationary k band are used. are they the only bands used here? then the v1 won't do much good would it? maybe i should get the v1 later when i go back home to seattle for the summer?

anyway, thanks a lot for your help!

Vascar is not a radar band, its a speed measurement device using a stop watch method, there isn't anything you can do about vascar other than using your eyes and judgement. More responsive Ka doesn't do anything other than make Ka threats ramp up quicker, making it harder to figure out how far the LEO is IMO. The V1 is great on K and Ka, if you already have it I would keep it. http://www.radardetector.net/List-of...e-U.S-589t.php Here is a list of radar bands used in all states on the highways, towns may have other bands.

Pennsylvania: Stationary Police radars only for use by Law Enforcement agencies. Only State Police are allowed to use police radar for enforcement purposes. On rare occasion, municipal Law Enforcement agencies will purchase a stationary police radar (generally a hand-held device or a speed trailer) to use for conducting speed studies.

well then leave the K band alone dont mess with the automute settings as those highway patrol guys will make you spat in your pants when you get hit with instant on K and if u have automute on it might miss somone else getting hit with instant on from far away (one or two blips then disappear) until you get nailed of course. so leave k band alone. ka more responsive is up to you. i personally dont like it as i cant guage how far away an leo is.

oh yeah and definatley disable x band. good luck
