V1 Baking in the car
Ummmm, I have a question.
I live in Florida and its quite hot in the summer. Is it alright if I leave my precious V1 in the car with window roll up and baking in the sun?
Will this kill my V1 in any way or form? Especially the performance.
I really dont want to unmount my V1 and take it everywhere I go, that would be "safe" but very stupid and annoying to do so.
Temperature Range: Operating: -20°C to +70°C (-4°F to +158°F)
Storage: -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to +185°F)
It can handle the heat but why take a chance with electronics or with a thief looking to smash your window.

You can run your processor easily into the mid to high 100 degress. but why would you? You can buy a better cooler and keep it at 90-100.
Because its the better thing to do. Just take 10 seconds - and put it in your glove.
hmmmm... so putting it in the glove box really help?
I guess it would, since it doesnt have direct contact with the sun.
thanks for the tip
or you could do as i do and put it in the center console... now it s changing temps now where i live and i dont take mine down at all, but in the spring summer and fall when it is hot i will take it down.

Now, with temps in the 60-70's I leave it up and only take it down if I feel the area I'm in is a possible theft threat. My town is full of 80-100 year old senior citizens so my threats are very low, but if I go a little further down where I know gangs and other hateful people are the V1 comes completely off and I even clean the winshield to remove the suction cup marks as to give absoultely not one hint of what is inside!

I agree with what everyone above has said... there is no reason to leave the V1 up for it to soak-up the rays... it certainly won't help the unit perform any better, and as aforementioned, if anyone wants a V1... you would be giving it to them... not only is it $400 for the V1 in that case, but a few-hundred for a new window, so don't be lazy with the $400 dollar piece of equipment.
Been baking the same V1 for 7 years & it still works flawless. Never removed it & our summers are cookers. I say let it bake!
Mine jumps around three vehicles but is mainly left on a visor of one of them and even though it is behind a tint strip (kind of resembles a garage door opener and LEO's don't even see it if pulled over) it has been baking in the sun for almost twelve years with no problems.
Before that my original Passport was at the same place for ten years no problems.
I do feel the heat of a frying pan when it has been up there and I have to slide it out to transfer it to another vehicle.
Imagine pulling it down several times a day for 22 years, NO WAY! I'm with Won Hunglo, I say let it bake!
