    Default Valentine 1 - New POP2 Mode

So just out of curiosity, how does everyone like V1's new POP2 mode? I've heard mixed opinions on it that it falses more, etc. Of course, when you speed up the response time like that, I would expect nothing less.

Anywhoo...so just wondering what everyone thinks of the new POP2 mode. Also, curious of the "Junk" filter and how it works. I haven't upgraded mine yet, but am thinking of doing it soon, so any info is appreciated...

One of the users had a problem with the with the Junk filter 'J'ing real threats but i believe he was running the software 3.281 not the current 3.284

General consensus of V1 owners is they love it and will brag about it on and on as if it the only wroking detector...however this does't go for all of them

I should be able to give feedback as to falsing either tomorrow or monday, depending on when VR ships it back to me. No doubt it's going to false more on Ka but, in theory, all Ka falses that wouldn't have shown up on a standard 1.8 should be "J"-ed out after a few seconds. A couple of runs through my local K-band "gauntlet" and I'll know how much worse that is, if at all.

For MY AREA I love my V1. 90% of my driving is highway driving and the V1 shines on the highway do to its phenomenal laser detection capability. The J alert is ok but nothing to brag about. POP2 I would not be able to answer because I have not encountered any POP threats. Like Brent V. once said you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than you do getting hit with POP

I got my 3.824 yesterday. I took it out for a spin, and did not pick up anything but a few K doors. Today, I went to max sensitivity on the Ka band. I hope that this thing can impress me more than the my 8500. If it doesn't, I will send it back without thought and pick up an X50 instead.

I do love my V1, but I don't think it's the only good detector out there. Bel and Escort make great detectors too. But if you go with something like a cheap Whistler or even RMR, yeah, good luck with that. Cobra makes a decent "mid-grade" detector, but I'd prefer one of the "big-3" I mentioned. I feel it comes down to personal preference and the area you drive in. I for one, prefer the Valentine, but I'm not going to bash the other great detectors out there because the fact is, they're great too.

The V1 does have killer laser sensitivity. Mine is mounted high (above my rearview, below the tint line) and I've never missed an encounter, in fact, most of the time, I've been alerted before it was my turn to run the gauntlet

This is my 3rd (maybe 4th ??) V1. This one is the best - - hands down.

What sets it apart from the others that you've had?

Sensitivity across the board is superior and by quite a significant margin since POP2 was introduced. Keep in mind, I primarily run with POP switched off and the sensitivity is superior even in that mode. Laser sesntivity is up a notable margin, too. I pick up the Infinitis and Lexus probably 50% sooner compared to previous versions. I "think" the directional arrows show a bit more accuracy now. Rear detection is quite impressive - - perhaps some changes were made in that area.

99% of my driving is around the city. I have been using V1 Dave's custom setting for a number of months now. That has been a real benefit.

The Japanese vehicles employ the laser beam for cruise control tracking. I'm not saying I enjoy the false alerts, but it is comforting to know the laser sensitivity is better than before - - I don't like laser at all.
