Call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you get $50 off of the $399 retail price and that comes with a 1 year warranty. Do not buy any radar detectors off of Ebay!!
but really if your going to spend the 350 on a LIFETIME investment.... why not get a brand spankin new one for 50 more bucks..... the return ones might have scratches or blemishs.... so shell out the 50 more and get a brand new one!

i really want just a used one, i mean 1.7 would be ok with me
my buddy got one for $150 i mean i know i cant get one for that but if anyone has one that want to sale for around that price i will take it
i just posted here to see if anyone wanted to sale theirs
You will probably not find another V1.7 for less than $200 unless it is stolen or broken on Ebay. Your best bet is to invest in a new one or a returned one because you can sell it for what you paid for it practically on Ebay. I sold my V1.7 that I bought in 1997 for $399+S/H from Valentine Research on Ebay in 2001 and I got $365 for it. I paid only $10 a year for 4 years to use the best radar detector that money can buy.
Buy one from Valentine ! directly...I can't tell you how many people were scammed buying a detector off ebay.....BUY FROM A LICENCED RETAILER!!!!!!
Spoiler: show
search car forums... bmw, porsche, vette, etc... look in their buy/sell forum and post a "want to buy" thread....OR search their forums under "V1" or "valentine"
lots of guys that fall upon hard times sell their V1s for ~350.00 or less (for the 1.7)
Buying a V1 on ebay is ok so long as the serial number is clearly visible on the detector, just don't read what the seller says, ask him for a photo of the serial number. There are a few sellers that have use the same serial number over and over because the one that they have is stolen or something. Pay with a credit card so therefore if you were scammed, your cc company will give you your money back without question. Paypal also has buyer protection.
Also, when purchasing on ebay, look at the seller's feedback positive/negative ratio. Stay away from the guys with Zero feedback.
Good luck in your quest in finding a V1!
Brent explain that to Matt who had a V1 with a visible serial number and would not alert X or K-band...the seller lied to matt saying is was functional but wasn't.
By a new one from Valentine...you won't be mis lead
Spoiler: show
Sure, I'll explain it to Matt that he doesn't know how to shop online correctly. If he couldn't get his money returned, that is HIS fault.Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob

Matt is a young fellow who was confused about what detector he wanted and one day wham he found the V1. Since then we have yet to hear from him. He has been driving around with his V1 since and no one has seen him again
