    Default "J" on V1

    Hi,

I had my V1 for 3 days now and I finally got "J" today. V1 alerted Ka band and right away displayed "J". This is kind of cool because you know its not a real threat. V1 also gave me around 1.2 mile warning on constant K band last night. He was driving towards me and it was behind hills, trees, you name it.

Is it possible for V1 to "J" real threat ? Have this happened to you ?

It hasn't happened to me, but I've seen the J.

Many users have had it J out the real threat - don't be too cautious on it.

I have had it 'J' out a real threat, its more annoying then anything else...

Basically I just ignore the J alert now, AKA: if it J's something out... I remain cautious (and obviously look around for a sh** RD)... but act as if its a real LEO until proven otherwise (so I just remain cautious for a mile or two).

(You can reset the unit after a 'J' and the alert should come back if its real)... with that said I have the 3.826, so with the new units things may be different.

interesting. I have 3.858 which is the latest version and J alert came on just once so far and it wasnt a real threat. So far its 1 for 1.

back a month or so, I was getting a constant KA alert, I saw the cop, then I get a "2" on the counter and then it "J" ed out, WTF!! then I see a van go by with a POS hanging off the glass, a couple seconds later the V-1 started alerting to the cop again.

So, with almost a year of use on my V-1, the "J" has been active, but has yet to "J" out a real threat. I think some people getting a real threat j-ed out might have had a junk signal pass by them at the same time like i had happen. I was just about to reboot when it started alerting again.

In your case, it had the real bogey, and then the 2nd "junk" bogey, and it was the 2nd bogey that got junked. The 1st bogey it continued to alert on.

Today though, mine Jed out a real threat. I was on the highway, when the V1 started ramping up Ka. When it got to about 6 dots strength, it Jed it out. A little bit later I saw a statey in the median. At that point I powercycled the V1 and it started alerting to the statey again.

So even with 3.858, real threats can be Jed out. So far it's only happened once. I bet it's in some cases when a real threat is being tracked and it picks up emissions from a junk detector, but doesn't pick up the Ka harmonic. It associates the harmonic with the real Ka and junks it out.

Yeah unfortunately I got my first J of a real threat the other day. It is really depressing, but thankfully no E.

    yet
