Well than you got screwed. There should be a hard wire kit wth the v1. No resistors or anything. Simply connect Red to a positive 12, Black to ground - and than you're off and running. Run the wire - and you're done. Except. . . Uhh You didn't get it.
Call v1 and tell them you didn't get one.
From the V1 site:
Direct-Wire Power Adapter Kit
Item 00030
Direct-wire power adapter (Item 20305) and a Straight power cord (Item 20311) together at a reduced price.
$19.00
I think that's the harwiring kit that comes included with the V1, plus some extra cord.
And yes, you could make your own harwire kit if you wanted. Just basically a telephone cord wired to your car's 12V power supply.
As a side note, I noticed they have some suction cups on the V1 site for a dollar(free shipping ). Could they be used on a X50 mount, and if so are they any stronger?
funny you ask that, because thats what i had for a lil while i had a x50
the v1 cups are stronger, and they do fit, although the piece that goes in the bracket is a lot smaller...so that if you have those cups on it.. its not really hooked onto it,,umm, its more like hanging loosely from it(radar to sunction cups)
although the sunctions will then stay on your glass, if you have any pressure pulling the x50, or most of the time, just gravity, will make the clip with the radar det. fall off from the suction cups..
summary--it can be done, but it is not practical..
Thanks... i want to build a little box with two phone type connectors just like the hardwire on you usually get! suppose i can just wire up blk and red etc... and solder to the correct points and sorted! dont trust the little wires that are in the core of the cable! but hey.....
It appears he is in England... so I have to assume he bought it off the Bay, or something like that.Originally Posted by bauzer71487
