    Default V1 vs Gatso

    Hello

    Feedback after 2 months with a new V1 (v 3.858)

We only have 3 types of radars in Romania: MPH python2, traffipax speedophot and gatso traffic cameras, all in k band

    But here is the thing:
First of all: way too many false alerts in k and ka band.

    Second:
Some Gatso cameras use magnetic detection (on the road) and some normal radio (in K band)
But 4 new Gatso cameras (installed this month) have Ka band detection (apparently).

THE BIG PROBLEM: V1 DOES NOT DETECTS those 4.
No detection in Europe mode or in normal mode.

A cheap 100$ detector find it from ~300meters in Ka band ( here )

The v1 will detect any speedtrap which uses radar or laser in the bands listed,
    10.500 - 10.550 GHz (X band)
    24.050 - 24.250 GHz (K band)
    33.400 - 36.000 GHz (Ka band)
13.400 - 13.500 GHz (Ku band): not used in U.S. - to activate see How to Reprogram V1.

    820 - 950 nanometers (Laser)

The v1 will detect any radar which the cheaper detector will pick up except at a longer range!

Gatsos use k band a ku band, i've not heard of them using ka, and i've not come across one using this band, but it could be a new radar.

The v1 won't detect non radar speed devices, which use strips under the road, to detect theses you need a gps detector.

u said nothing i did not know

the problem, i repeat, the new gatso traffic cameras that work in Ka band

I know that the gatso won’t be detected if the use magnetic strips on the road (I just stated what kind of radars are here)

I’ll try to see the frequency with a scanner. I’ll make photos too

Ka band shouldnt be a problem for the v1, if the other detectors picking them up and the v1 isn't then it may be that the ka band is disabled (see how to program the v1).

Or the v1 needs to be sent in for service or repair.

I Arnt aware of any ka band gatsos, but maybe valentine research may have, if you have doubts that the ka band isnt working email valentine research

    sales@valentine1.com

    And tell them your situation..

    thx for the reply

i will send it, only when i'll know the exact frequency for the gatso
i'm thinking it's another frequency than normal (maybe a few mhz up or down)

Ka band is not disable (only X band is)

i did reprogram the v1 on the road near the gatso ( to disable Euro mode, and enable it back on) but no difference
i even activate the "5 option"

    no detection

i did enable Ku band detection, but i never seen the little dot so far

anyway, the other detector announce the Ka band,
the bel 995 does nothing (like the v1)

my v1 performs very well on the python 2 radar (practically from ~500m in straight line is in full strength) and bcoz of the very low cost camera that is mounted on the police cars, the maximum distance is ~300 meters (beyond that point it’s useless to detect my speed bcoz the law here states that it requires proof in court).
I understood that the used strength on the radar is 2.
The only problem, is "the instant on"

Besides instant on ( one stupid button that is for standby-or that is what written in the manual ) they do the “take the cable out from the antenna and put it back on when spots you with high speed in the city”

The traffipax radars are only 4 in my country, and I never encounter them so far
The bel 995 detects it from ~200m if it has the antenna pointing away.

The photo is made last year by the traffipax

    yes, 176km/h in a 110km/h speed limit
    3 months without the license

well, i'm back with some bad news, for me anyway

the frequency on the scanner looks at 33.191 GHz if I scan upwards
and at 33.315 GHz if I scan downwards

I’ll put the video monday on a server at work

i'm gonna change my v1 for a bel target euro 550

    :?

Whoa!!! Gotta love eastern Europe. 176kmh on a two lane highway (that's 110mph for you non metric people)

The v1 onyl scans 33.400 - 36.000 GHz (Ka band) so thats why it's not responding. in the euro mode it scans 33.7

    The bel 550 scans

    34.0 GHz (Ka Smalband),
34.3 GHz (Ka Smal-band), 34.7 GHz (Ka Smalband),
33.4 tot 36.0 (Ka Super wide band)

So the bel wont detect that frequency, sounds like the radar in question is out of spec and has drifted, the multa novas in hk do this.
