V1 3.858
- its an upgrade from a non pop
- it has the old buttons and some old parts of the casing, the lens in the front is new
or
3.851
- bought it brand new and is in better shape than the 3.858 ^
so... which should go on eBay?

the best thing to do is You! pick the v1 which has worked the best for you in long range detection stick to that one but make sure you have testted both units.if both give the same range then pick= i am guessing more opions will come
3.858 You say the 851 is in better shape and you know where it has been. The versions are basically a money making scam anyway. But as said, keep the one you enjoy more

Keep the .851 sell the .858 as the most up to date unit (which it is) Then when VR have improved there V1 send in the .851 and upgrade for $75 which is what the upgrade programme is all about.
What are you smoking? Free upgrades is hardly a scam.Originally Posted by aaseavey

I would sell the older looking one. Given it is going to depreciate faster than the newer looking one. So if they come out with 3.862 and its 125 to upgrade - it'll be cheaper to sell and rebuy - and the good looking one will sell for more.
If you have an older model - upgrade. I have an older model # 3056040347 or maybe the last number is 1 (hard for these old tired eyes to read) plug that into the upgrade page on VR website and see how much it says it would cost to upgrade to the newest version.
Just saving ya the trouble  Gee that is a old unit you get it for your 30th B'day. LOL
Status Report on Your Valentine One
Serial Number 3056040347
V1 Description: Covers X, K, and all of Ka (33.4-36.0 GHz, sometimes called “superwide”). Laser warning is front-only.
Comment: Finds all radars on road today; great on X and K, just okay on Ka--which gets to be more of a problem with each passing day now that Ka has become the fastest-growing radar type. This early, front-only, laser-warning performance was substantially better that the average competitor in its day, but we’ve surpassed it, in a small way some time ago, and now in a large way.
Upgrade Recommendation: We’re uncomfortable now with the Ka performance of these early “superwide” units. We’ve made major steps up in Ka since then, and Ka alerts are now numerous. If you value performance, we advise upgrading. You will also enjoy far fewer Ka false alarms. Upgrades add our latest front-and-rear laser warning; also “internal” Mode Memory, LEDs for band identification, and POP Protection and Euro Mode.
It is old. But hey so am I. I read all that too but what you failed to mention was the price to upgrade to the newest version. When I saw the price, I vowed that I would keep my RDs current.Originally Posted by ghz1
