Default If you get a V1 Make sure you have some Advil!

    O. M. G. Where do I start. I have no clue at all why everyone with a V1 loves it so much. First off people warned of the falses. They never mentioned along with the amount of falses you will need 2 Advil to handle all the falses. MY GOD. False after false after false. X, K, KA, 1 Laser False from tail lights. I seriously got a headache from all the falses.

Roy's rules say not to bash anyone, well if you want to bash me, think I'M crazy, think I'M incorrect whatever say what you please. I had my first dose of the V1 and I'M not impressed.

One last complaint before one compliment....

The whole arrow idea, would be good IF it worked at least 50% of the time.
Either it pointed the wrong way or to the side way before even passing a radar location.

Now on to the good, IF you do get a real alert and you can only verify it is a real alert it's distance is about 1 to 2 tenths of a mile better range than the X50 on a KA constant on. This is impressive.

For the conclusion of my first day having the V1

Would I recommend it? Yes if you live in a rural area. NO if you live near a city.

Valentine seems to make a detector with great reception but poor filtering.

If only the V1 had the satellite idea and you could block the falses, there would be no way in hell that any radar detector manufacturer could beat them. Bad news is Escort grabbed the torch and is running with it. Props to Escort for making a way to eliminate falses. No Advil needed here.

Roy can look for an order from me soon!

    Thanks for your opinion Craig.

You can keep your filtered down Belscorts that are silent to quick pulls of the radar trigger and I will keep my "unfiltered" V1 all day long that alerts to instant-on. You can keep your one antenna with no rear detection and I will keep my "unfiltered" V1 that alerts for a longer period. You can keep your Belscorts that don't detect all laser guns from every distance and I will keep my V1 that detects it almost 100% of the time.

Give it to me unfiltered because I want to know everything, not what some technician over at Belscort "filters" out because he thinks it would annoy me because it's too loud or whatever.

To each his own. But there is no such thing as K band filtering other than reduced sensitivity or muting the initial alert. Both reduce protection, but if that's what you want..........

My BEL 985 gets just as many "non police radar alerts" as my V1, but it is just about as sensitive too. On some door openers, it may not alert quite as early, but it still alerts in the same places.

Well in my review, the V1 in A mode and Logic mode picked up K band falses at greater distances. Which would just make more of a threat if there was a real encounter around. The bogey counter jumps up and down around those continuously. I seriously have a headache from the detector. I was so excited to get the detector that I wanted to test it out throughly. I drove for 5 hours in all areas of St. Louis, which I have driven with my X50 before. I have never got a headache with my X50. I have got saves with the X50 and as far as Laser Alerts, What good does the alert do on a detector. Thats what the superior laser jammer is for

I'll try it again in the Advanced Logic mode and see how that works. Maybe I'll be more impressed. But out of all honesty every street I drove on I got falses, bogey ramping up and down, then true KA going off but not knowing much about it because of how the strongest threat overrides it. You can't possibly keep your eyes on the detector the whole time. So how would you know if the true KA alert is still there or has passed? You wouldn't.

    Enough said!

i sold my x50 for a V1, and im very glad i did..
i compared them side by side, one at a time before that...
v1 doesnt "false" more,, it alerts to real police radar gun bands FIRST

good point as i have done this too... my 3.851 that i first had in "A" mode was going off constantly now my 3.856 i have now is not going off so constantly but it is noisy... i had it in "L" mode and that suited me best.... the only thing that gets me in "L" mode is when u go buy a place that gives off a strong x band it will almost be like instant on X band and that sometimes gets ya... i hated when that happened... but right now i am seeing on an AVERAGE of .2 miles better detection with the V1 over the X50... not that big of a deal but nonetheless a difference

How should I say this ?

Escort sucks It will filter so much that by the time you get your .0001 mile alert its is too late. Think twice before you say that V1 falses alot.

Someone said that you could compare the detector side by side. Odd thing is the X50 made the KA and K band go off and false. So I unplugged the X50 and just ran without it. The V1 did not J to my detector, maybe because it was so close. But did J 2 times while driving to other detectors?

My question is if you have to put the V1 in Advance Log mode will it kill actual X band radar as well? Will it cut down on the detection range of actual X band radar since it will only alert after 4 leds?

Try it in L mode. Where I am it is a must for everyday driving. Once you get used to the location you are in, you will know what alerts to what when and where... I can tell within 15 feet of where I will get an alert on my route to work and to school. I don't get a lot of them. On the way to school, I get 3 K warnings from the same source (I end up doing a loop around a building and loose the signal and get it back at other times). On the way to work I get x from ITT, k from Ekcerds, x from barn. All are 1. If I see 2 I know I have a visitor. If I see any other band I have a visitor. If I am in a new location, I do not know what I can filter, and need to be careful anyway. I know however: It don't beep, it ant happenin.

Arrows are not 100% accurate... but it will give you an idea. After all, an idea of your surroundings is the best the little box can do for you. I have seen <-> when I know the source is 45 feet ahead. I have seen v when the source is 45 feet ahead.

Depending on your mount, you should be able to see the V1's screen at all times. While not 'studying' the diagram, you will get used to the heights of the lights and will be able to tell what is where. Also, the arrows should still be lit in the 'non-blinking' area. While the 'heart-beat' KA alert was the only band I was able to distinguish quickly for the first few trips, it has become second nature.
