Well I no longer have doubts about my V1. At least when it comes to K band. today I picked up a LEO running K band (24.174 Ghz) and I was able to test my V1 and STi. The LEO was parked with his radar facing towards a metal door. I did 2 different tests with each detector running ONLY one powered on at a time.
Test one - Off Axis
The V1 alerted about 1/5 to 1 miles (guessing) from the LEO. The LEO was to my left and facing the metal door.
The STi alerted about 300m after the V1 in the same off axis test. I tried it again and mounted the STi above the V1 and still it alerted about 300m less than the V1.
Test two - Straight Line
I drove about 1.5 miles away from the LEO and the V1 and STi both alerted from the same distance. I wanted to drive further away from the LEO, but I ran out of road. However, what impressed me was that the LEO was still facing away from me and both detectors were able to sniff him out. I wish it was Ka he was running, so I could really test the off axis abilities of the detectors.
