After a speeding ticket (didn't realize the speed zone I was in) required me to STILL hassle with the courts almost a year later, I finally decided to fight back.
At first, I was very concerned about getting the V1 with the 9500i now a competitor. In the end though, my choice was made on want for pure signal detection. Sure, the GPS and all is nice, and I considered test driving both for 30 days, but after seeing the performance first hand of a V1 vs. 8500 X50, I decided the V1 better fit my needs. NOTE: MR. Valentine would get more of money if he had offered a V1 model with anywhere near the features of the 9500i.
I've only been running the detector for 24 hours, but I have had two successful trials. First, I picked up Ka radar about 2 miles away over TWO overpasses. At first, I was a little concerned that I was getting some seriously annoying false due to the V1 stereotype for loudness. But the signal stayed and increased as I came over the first overpass. As I came over the second, I could see the cop with someone else pulled over about .5 miles up ahead. By then, the V1 was already screaming. At this point I laughed at just how good this detector is.
This morning, I picked another signal ~1 mile away before my exit. On the street I was to exit towards (it runs perpendicular to the highway I was on), was a cop moving along. The V1 had tracked him as was ~ .5 miles to my left, and until he was about .5 miles to my right (assuming he kept constant speed). In both cases, the cop car was out of my sight before the V1 could no longer pick it up. Fantastic sensitivity, considering I was still picking up the radar when the cop was UNDER the overpass ahead of me too! Man radar must scatter a lot.
And enough with the V1 ass kissing:
Would love an automute.
Would love GPS, but who wouldn't.
May purchase a remote mute off ebay.
Not as many false signals as people made me think there would be, but still tricked by all the usual stationary spots that get my cheapo detector in the past.
Very happy with the choice. Would just like to see some feature improvement for the basics.
P.S. I dunno why anyone doesn't like the housing (minus the same color'd LEDs for all bands). The detector looks and feels AWESOME.
