Damn... my first encounter with VR customer service and I would have to say I am impressed:
I think some of what you heard is incorrect.
In rare circumstances where a Ka-band radar-gun signal becomes so strong that it overloads V1's circuits, versions 3.818 and 3.821 might mistake the overload products for a Junk detector signal and terminate the alert.
This problem was addressed by new software versions 3.819 and 3.824. Your unit has no possibility of being affected by the "J" issues you describe.
I have the same version software as you (3.824) in some of my family's vehicles and find it to be quite satisfactory.
There is a later software version, 3.825, which allows a few seldom used K-band selective muting programming-menu options to work as described here: http://www.valentine1.com/lab/MikesLabRpt3.asp
Versions 3.821 and 3.824 have menu option #7 inoperable.
We, of course, will update your software to version 3.825 at no charge. All you need to do is send it to our service department as outlined in the manual. Please include a note requesting a software upgrade, or print out a copy of this e-mail and include it.
