Thanks guys. I really tried to be as absolutely honest, objective, and un-biased as possible.
Roy had a sneak-peek at the article and he gave me two thumbs up.
Says, a heck about the level integrity of that man and the operation of www.radarbusters.com that he has no issues with it, even though he will not benefit from such an article.
For that reason, I humbly ask that anyone thinking of making any kind of purchase of these related products, kindly consider supporting Roy and his operation. Without him, this and other information sharing that he allows on this forum, would not really be possible. Thanks Roy for being a stand-up guy!
jwardell,
Please don't mis-interpret my raves about the 9500i. I think this detectors better days are ahead and I applaud Escort for attempting such an effort. The potential to be able to update a detector with all sorts of marked locations in advance, such as the growing number of "big brother" technology like redlight cameras and/or speed-on-green which do not employ radar, will one day be priceless, IMHO.
To be frank, in my opinion, the 9500i has some additional sorting out to go through, as did early STi Drivers. However, I am certain, of course, that Escort will be successful in their endeavor just as Bel was with sorting out their awesome STi Driver. So far this detector appears at least as good as the RX-65 Pro which remains one of my favorites. This was not entirely the case with the very first model that I received.
There's little doubt, in my mind, that Escort will nail it to the point that it is at least as high performing at the 8500 series, which is also one very fine detector. My excitement for the 9500i is rooted in the confidence that Escort will take the same trajectory as Beltronics. Driving around town with the 9500i is a nicer and less taxing experience than with any other detector. Speed sensitive sensitivity is a really useful feature, which seems to make every other detector's filtering mode, as good as some of them are, feel somewhat outdated and again to be perfectly honest, even though its got nothing to do with sheer performance, I really love the real-time speed display as a "poor man's HUD."
sixfoot7,
Personally I love the look of the V1 and its all about the business of getting the job done most effectively. I am pleased that the rear laser sensor, for example. is located on the front face plate and not farther back on the detector. Regardless of the pitch of the detector, its rear laser sensor will always have the best potential field of view, as a result. A lot of companies promise 360 protection, the V1 strives the best to deliver on it, though.
Personally I'd take girth over length (in this case ops any day. And compared to the many portable GPS units that I see on the windshields these days, the V1 is even less a real-estate hog by comparison.
