    Default recommended settings for california

what settings can i reprogram for my v1 to fit where i drive around (los angeles county, san gabriel valley).

i believe X & POP should be taken off
K, Ka, and Laser should be on

what about the other settings in the programming guide?

also would it be better to leave it on A once i've taken X and POP off?

I don't know. But X alert = false alert in CA. That's for sure.

I think the factory test has been eliminated from the newer models.

Well I can be of some assistance.

For all of CA turn off X band. K band should only be one if your local cops use it otherwise running into K band will be from door openers. KA band is going to be your biggest and most frequent and commonly used band. Also, laser is starting to become the next biggest thing here in cali so leave it on as well.

All other settings are up to you. #5 makes it hard to judge the distance of an alert as the ramp up and tones are quicker. #6 will drive you insane with false alerts on KA band. #J will give you cobra detection because it will give you "J" 's when a cobra is near and also it could potentially J out a CHP so be careful here.

    Hope this helps you out.

I've never driven in california so I can't really answer in regards to how you should program your v1 to specifically handle california driving. However, after driving around with my v1 for maybe one or two months, I started to get a feel for not only how it would alert to threats/falses but also what devices were used in my area that I most frequented. As such, I put the K automute on to 30 seconds, and am considering disabling pop, but I'm still trying to gauge the threat level in my area and the areas that I drive the most. I've heard, don't quote me, but I've heard that k band is used in california, so I might not advise putting k automute on, but, again, drive around with it and judge your threat level for yourself in your area, I can't judge your threat level. I've also heard pop and x is not used in california, so you can go ahead and turn that off. My best answer is to drive around with your new v1 in A mode for a few weeks, get to know it's alerts, then try little l mode, see how you like it. Personally, I don't particularly like big L mode with the k automute, I just feel like that could set you up for some nasty surprises.

I drive and work in the San Gabriel Valley. I have x off, K muted 30 sec and unmute at 4 lights. Pop off, that is it. I run little l in town and on the road in A. Works fine. Hope this helps.

so in order to get the 30 sec K muted, i'll have to set b to down, C to up, d to up since i have the newest version?

E (unmute at four lights) = ON
F (unmute at six lights) = what should i do for this one? should i leave this at ON as well?
