I did a lot of driving this weekend in my Mustang vert with the top down etc.
A good chance to test my new Valentine One.
First impressions is that it is smaller than I thought it would be. I like the mount and suction cup lever.
The packaging is first rate and the book is pretty good as well.
My first test was around the back roads where the schools have these K band speed signs, most of which are around winding turns.
I know exactly where my RX65 starts to squawk so it's a good test.
The Valentine didn't do as well, but still gave plenty of time to react.
The RX65 goes off at the start of a curve and the Valentine at the end. The radar is about 1/4 mile ahead around still another turn.
Another school sign in a different part of town gave similar results on K band so it appears at least in the curves test the RX65 is a bit ahead of the Valentine.
Around town, the detector is a little more chatty than the RX65, but it never falsed on Laser which my RX65 tends to do.
The arrows are a big help here as I can tell what is going on much better than the RX65.
On the highway, the Valentine was picking up LEO on ka band very well.
I tried putting both the RX65 and Valentine on the windshield at once but the RX65 interfered with the Valentine causing a constant false X band from the rear.
In normal driving both highway and around town, the Valentine is very nice and seems to work as advertised.
Like everyone says the arrows are a great feature.
I left it in default A mode for all of this because I am still learning the detector.
I'm not sure it's worth keeping it and selling the RX65 though and I am going to use it for a few more days before I decide who stays and who leaves.
