Default Just bought V1 tonight, what version will I get? Problems???

I didn't realize there were so many problems out with the V1 right now. I just discovered this website and I see many people are having problems with false alerts tied to the firmware revisions and such. Should I cancel my order?

My Cobra 9120 just broke and I've always wanted a V1 and I splurged today knowing it was the "best" but I recently found some big review "Radar Roy" did and he said it was the "little chicken" of radar detectors because it lies a lot (false alerts?)

Can anyone reassure me my purchase was not foolish and that the V1 is better than the X50 and Bel 65

Sure, you are in the V1 forum. People will say its the best detecor around- say that in the escort area and you will probibaly receive a different answer.

This is what it boils down to...

V1 is a very VERY sensitive unit. It was rated the "little chicken" because its very chatty. With increased sensitivity, you will have falses.

There truely is no detector that is the king of all between these three. They all have their ups and downs. V1 does have the arrows, J function, superior laser detection, and rear antenna where as the others do not.

But the others have a multithreat display that you can track the strength of each band, and superior filtering. 90% of the time it blips in a city, it will be a cop. 90% of the time the v1 blips in the city, it will be a false.

If you ask the users that have used both v1 and the belscort, they will say v1 is the detector for the highway, where as the belscort is the better detector for cities.

The unit you will be receiving will be the 3.825, which is the latest and greatest. It will fix the K-band automute and the J function.

Dont worry man, over the cobra- the v1 is going to preform like a God
I ran into the same delema that you have, and ended up keeping them both

If I drop down to Logic or Advanced Logic modes will the filtering become better in the city?

I live right outside Little Rock, AR. Some rural police vehicles still use X-band , but mainly these are in the boonies and truck cops. I usually take the interstate to Little Rock most of the time, but I also do a lot of city driving. My Cobra 9120 didn't false a whole lot, sometimes on X/K band near stores and such.

I just want a V1 for the coolness factor kinda, but if I get it and I'm disappointed, I'll return it and get the Bel 65. I speed a lot (98 Accord Coupe owner, and soon to own an RSX Type-S) so I need a quality detector but if I'm constantly reaching up to mute it I'll be upset.

Is there a mute X feature on the V1 like there is for K-Band? i.e. Mute X if it doesn't get stronger after 5 seconds?

The v1 doesnt have problems falsing on X-band, it is K-band that has issues.

I do believe that the newest version allows you to tie in K-band filtering while on the big L mod. That however, must be programmed in.

No...the logic and advanced-logic modes are your X filters, and some people say it filters the K also. There is no programable X band mute like what you are describing.

Like Sethy said, if you do a lot of highway driving, you will like the V1. If you're doing a lot of city driving, you'll probably like one of the other two detectors better. If you do decide to return it and get a Bel, bid on the one that Happya$$ has up for auction. I'd bid, but I have no use for one right now.

Can someone confirm that you can tie K-band filtering into the L mode with the newest V1?

I heard this was a new feature...

    What's the money-back policy on V1. 30 days, correct?

I'm going to at least test it out for a couple of weeks. I know some areas where I can draw a moderate amount of police attention without doing anything to get pulled over.

If I don't get the 3.825 version should I send it back? I noticed someone a week ago got the 'faulty' 3.824 version.

I'm sure I'll be happy with the V1, but if it is false happy (which I'm already afraid of) then I'll probably send it back and get the X65. I want the V1 for the arrows, but I like keeping one hand on the wheel and one on my gear shifter

I can see it working on logic mode. Mine has muted some surprisingly strong K-band signals. Some are only muted for a little while.

Filtering does indeed apply to K band. I drive by a supermarket everyday, when I have my V1 (currently 3.818) in A mode I get 5 K band bogeys. When I put it in Advanced Logic Mode (L) I get 2 or 3.

Specific to which software revisions, if any? That sounds awfully good...
